In Sept 2011, I travelled to New York from Sydney, Australia for a holiday. I was in a restaurant near Washington Square Park when I overheard a man talking about the newly opened 9/11 Memorial. He got up to leave as I was leaving, and I mentioned that I was going to the memorial the following day. He told me that he had lost his wife, Katherine, on 9/11. I had watched the events of that day on TV from my home in Sydney in horror. I mourned for all those people that I didn't know. When I went to the memorial, I found her name, Katherine Wolf. And I shed a tear for her. Tonight, I watched a documentary on Netflix called The Last Secrets of 9/11. I saw that man I had met 7 years ago, Charles. Thank you Charles, for sharing with me. I want you and the rest of Katherine's family to know that, even though I never met her, I will never forget her.

I used to speak with you and Charles when I worked in Customer Service at Amway. You and Charles were so much fun, always bubbly, and just full of life. I will never forget. Your memory will be forever in my heart.

I visited the WTC memorial and took a bunch of pictures. One of them was of flowers that someone left there. I don't know if they were left for Katherine, but her name is the only one that I can make out in the picture. I figured I would look her up. God bless.

Dearest Katharine,
It was several months before I found out that you were lost on September 11. It was such a shock and it made me very sad. I attended your wedding and had such a great time. I even got to have a dance with you. As a former member of VLOG you helped me practice my audition song. Your sweet smile and your very quiet way made such an impression on me. I never got a chance to become close friends with you but I wish I had. You will be missed by all those who love you and I pray that God will grant your husband Charles and your family inner strength to bear the burden of your loss.

Katherine was one of those people whose good nature I'll always remember. At Schroders, she surrounded herself with pictures & thoughts of her loved ones, and that always kept a smile on her face. May she rest in peace.

I will never forget the kind assistance Katherine so willing gave to me when I first joined Schroders, I would have been lost without her. We shared a common background with our heritage from the U.K.
I have never met her husband or family but I would like them to know that, on this first anniversary, my thoughts and prayers are with them.

It was a pleasure to meet the person who so completely captured my cousin Charlie's heart. We only saw each other a couple of times, one of which was their amazing wedding at the Cathedral fo St. John the Divine. It always amused me that my cousin and I both married people with the same last name(James). I regret living too far away to get to know this most talented and charming person. I know she enriched the lives of many in our family.

I met Kath a few years ago through a business connection with her husband. Although Kath and I did not know each other very well, there are some people that you meet in life and you just KNOW immediately that you want to be good friends with them and you want them in your life. Kath was one of those people for me. I miss her so much, as do so very many people. While Kath and I never got the chance to build our friendship her on earth, I now feel that I have a great friend in Heaven.

Although miles apart, Katherine and I worked very closely together in my early years at Schroders. In fact, I even had a designated button on my phone which would dial direct to "Katherine James" (as the longer serving ones knew her at one stage) on a daily basis! Fortunately, however, I did eventually get to meet her, albeit only once, here in London whilst she was visiting family.
I know she will be sorely missed and my thoughts and prayers go to her husband, family and friends.
It was a real pleasure to have known and worked with her.

katherine...my father came to new york during the 60's...he watched the development of the twin towers from beginning to end. he walked brooklyn heights promenade on many sunlit days...through all seasons and took pictures of both him and my mother with the skyline standing behind them. before and after his demise...i too walked that promenade and marveled at how beautiful the sunset looked besides those tall buildings...now all i can think of is you and everyone else who came to work that day with the hopes of just going out with their friends or loved ones after work...or maybe the hopes of just going home to relax and give thanks for another day to have been blessed with the gift of life. katherine you are the only person that i knew personally that was in that tragedy. i know your energy still exists in the universe and will someday turn into another one of the creator's creations. i once worked with you at schroders and now i wish i would have taken the time to get to know you. i wish your soul the peace to fly and become whatever your next life unfolds to be. everyone comes into our path or life for a reason...i look forward to meeting you again...and this time...i promise to take the time to get to know the reason behind your smile. peace and love to you katherine and your husband and family. my heart and thoughts go out to you...everytime i look at what once was and will never be.

America Cries
We see your sorrow-
and our hearts cry....
We can not erase your pain
but you do not have to face the anguish alone-for we-
-the American people-
are beside you.
We so desperately want to have the touch that brings you comfort,
the strength that gives you courage,
and the words to lighten your spirits.
And when we are left speechless
may the silence of our nation weave love into your hearts
to ease your sorrow.
May you find healing through our nation's strength as we-
-the American people-
face this difficult time together. Our hearts are with you. Teresa Jahn
