Once again, I have the privilege of paying tribute to a great Jamaican-American. I have a godson who calls me "Pops" and upon reading your memorial, and hearing how you showed so much love, it reminded me of myself. I hope people remember me the same way when I pass on. May you rest in peace. Your life set an example and your memory will never fade in the minds of those who loved you and knew you.

'Uncle POPS' as he IS to us, came into our lives for only a short while, he quickly became both mine and my son's favourite uncle. Our fist trip to the USA was made all the more special by the attention he gave to his great-nephew. Carlton was only 3 and a half; He took Carlton for a drive, to the corner shop,(My Aunt Melrose and I thought)a couple of hours later they returned, my son beaming from ear to ear with his new Remote Controlled Power Boat for bathtime, and his McDonalds Happy meal. To this day although the boat no longer works, I cannot throw it away. Although we lived thousands of miles away, it was never a hard ship for Uncle POPS to make that overseas call every Sunday. It took sometime for Carlton to understand that Uncle POPS was not going to call anymore, and used to ask Aunt Melrose "Isn't he back yet?", we both broke down crying over the phone. I still wait for the phone to ring on Sundays to hear his voice. We truly miss you Uncle POPS, but we know you are watching over us. LOVE ALWAYS.

As I cross-stitched your name on the memorial that I am doing for all of the victims, I prayed for you and your family. Please know that your death was not in vain. We will always remember. God Bless.

I met Pops in 1977 on the job where one of his best friends Eddie was my co-worker. He was a true friend and a hard worker. Pops never had anything bad to say about anyone. When my mariage was falling apart Pops would visit me every Sunday to make sure I was o.k. I could not have had a better marriage counselor. He was a true friend and he will be missed by everyone whose lives he had touched. My condolences to his wife and mother and the rest of his family. I know that I will never be able to come to terms with the fact that I will never hear his voice again or the sound of his laughter. God bless you Pops for all that you have done for me. Pat

Uncle Pops was what i called him, he was a man of fun and games. My brother was his first godson and he used to always take us shopping even when our mother told him not to. He loved us as if we were his own. From what I remember of him I never saw him get angry, I never heard him say no to us (which was a good thing in our eyes). I miss him and may God bless him and his family. I love you Uncle Pops. Rest in Peace.

I remember "Pops" as a great friend someone who loved to laugh. The most patient, kind, giving, generous person I have ever known, the one thing everyone who knew POPS can attest to is that he gave of himself, sometimes to much, we thought, but that was just him. My son was his first Godson, and he loved him dearly along with the other children. He would spoil them, despite my protest, he would always say "They are kids let them enjoy themselves man.
I still have not been able to remove his numbers from my phone book, because I guess that would really bring the point home that he is actually gone, and I guess I am not ready to let go and forget.
For the Twenty-three years I knew you, you were always a true friend, the legacy you have left behind will live on forever.
REST IN PEACE BROTHER......

America Cries
We see your sorrow-
and our hearts cry....
We can not erase your pain
but you do not have to face the anguish alone-for we-
-the American people-
are beside you.
We so desperately want to have the touch that brings you comfort,
the strength that gives you courage,
and the words to lighten your spirits.
And when we are left speechless
may the silence of our nation weave love into your hearts
to ease your sorrow.
May you find healing through our nation's strength as we-
-the American people-
face this difficult time together. Our hearts are with you. Teresa Jahn
