Louis Aversano Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Oct. 29, 2001.
A Morning Chat With Fish
Louis F. Aversano Jr. liked to take care of everybody and everything. Especially his fish. At his home in Manalapan, N.J., Mr. Aversano, 58, kept a suburban-sized aquarium with five fish that he doted on.

"Those were his babies," said Lisa Aversano, Mr. Aversano's youngest daughter. "He would sneak in to see them early in the morning, and he would talk to them as if they were people. He would say, 'Hi fishies, good morning. Your sister is here to visit. Be nice to her. You guys look so nice today.' "

He couldn't help it, she said. After all, he exuded the same sunny disposition when helping to raise his four children or organizing neighborhood block parties.

There is a lot of father in daughter, Ms. Aversano said proudly. People call her "Little Lou" because they were best friends; they were former colleagues at Aon, where he was director of operations support; and they looked remarkably alike (except for the receding hairline and the mustache). And these days, she and her boyfriend find themselves the new parents of five fish. They spend time talking to them, just as her father did.

Profile published in THE NEW YORK TIMES on December 16, 2001.

Louis F. Aversano, Jr., of Manalapan, New Jersey, director of operations support and risk services for Aon Corp.

He will always be remembered as such an extraordinary human being. Words cannot express what a loving and caring man he was. He will be so deeply missed but will always be in our hearts. It is very difficult to go on with life without him but his family loves him so much and we are so honored to have such wonderful memories with him.

God Bless Lou and his family. Remember his sacrifice and that of our fellow Americans who were lost in defending and honoring their memory.
Although I never met Lou in person, I had the pleasure of doing business with Lou over the phone from time to time over the years. A true gentleman and always a pleasure to work with.
God Bless his soul. Rest In Peace.

Lou, another year, big milestone - 20 years, hard to believe its been that long since you and 178 other Aon family were taken home. Just want to let you know, you still pop in my thoughts throughout the year, remembering how you use to solve issues, then turn the call into a long phone conversation that went from work to laughter. Your one big hearted man that made a very large impact on so many.

Lou and I were Academy Bus commuting partners as he and I lived in the same community (Southfield Estates). I had moved to South Florida prior to the 911 devistation and had to watch on TV in disbelief as the towers fell. My first thoughts were of Lou......hoping he did not, for some reason, go in that day. I think of him often and will always remember our conversations on the bus.....he loved and spoke passionatley of his family every day.

Shortly after 9/11, the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association (BGEA) made available bracelets to memorialize the victims of 9/11. I received one and the name Louis Frank Aversano was the name on the one I received. This was reminder to prayer for the families of those lost. I want Mr. Aversano's family to know that I still wear this bracelet often. When I do and look at his name, I pray for all of you. God bless you!

Although I did not know Louis Aversano in life, after reading all of the beloved memories and feelings, I am shown the impact of this man on all he came in contact with, and the love that he and his family and friends shared amongst them. My thoughts are with his family and friends always..

December 13, 2011

To The Family,
I was one of the fortunate ones who did not lose any family members on that hurtful day of 9/11. However, I would like to express my deepest condolences to you in the loss of your loved one. In lieu of the Almighty creating all mankind with the natural desire to want to live forever, death is so hard to accept. Therefore, your emotions may may be somewhat unpredictable. Tears may flow without much advance warning. But remember, " God is near to those that are broken at heart and those who are crushed in spirit he saves." May these concerning thoughts help somehow to convey the sympathy that hearts can feel but words can never say.
Sincerely,
Mr. Terry of NC

You may not know me, but I used to work with Lou quite a few years ago when he worked in mid-manhattan. I happended to be watching the 10th anniversary of 9-11 and when the families were reading name I heard his name. That brought on my curiousity and in search, I found this website. I was taken aback that it was him. He was a wonderful person to work with (he taught me everything I know today). I think about him once in a while and now he will be in my prayers as well.
