Heinz was a wonderful colleague. I worked for Aon in Detroit and he met with us in Detroit just a few months before 9/11. I had planned to travel to NYC that summer and Heinz offered to give me a tour of the WTC. My plans changed and I didn’t get that opportunity. Everyone in Detroit who worked with Heinz thought he was an amazing young man. I found this recollection regarding Heinz in an article from a survivor: “Heinz Ackerman, last seen helping wounded in the tower lobby. “ We remember

Heinz worked with us at Aon in Detroit the summer of 2001 and visited our office. It was a pleasure working with him and I was looking forward to visiting NYC one day and Heinz had promised me a tour of the WTC. He was such a friendly and smart young man. You will always be remembered Heinz.

September 15, 2020

Again and again, every year around 9/11 my thoughts go back to the time, when Heinrich was part of the team of Aon in Munich and I still cant believe that his soul is in another dimension.

We did not and we will not forget you.

Rest in Peace!

Thinking of you Heinz...every time the summer nears September..there's a crispness in the air that immediately reminds me of that horrific day on September 11th and you. I often remember being so helpless to do anything to make sure you'd get out of the tower..and when it fell, something inside me died with you. But I often think about you and your kindness, the times we spent watching the stars at night in Marina del Rey, California...reminding me that within the grief of your loss...a very big part of you lives within my heart. You're never forgotten. Julia

Katja Russ-Urban

i have been working with Heinrich in the 1990 at Aon former Jauch&Hbener in Munich, we had no great connections since that time but I heard he was a victim of 9/11 and felt very sorry about that. When we stayed at NYC in March 2015 I visited the memorial thinking about him and all of a sudden found his name! I felt so so sorry, crying about all these lives given for something beyond our understanding and still hoping that we care for each other avoiding cruelty and violence like that in the future - rip heinrich

Heinrich, you'd be in your 50s now, probably still working but for sure enjoying the life you have. I'm sorry that it was cut so short. I pray you are at peace. What would you be doing today, Jan 8th 2014? Not knowing you, I know this, you didn't deserve to perish this way nor so early in your life. God Bless you and your family. Heinz and I were coworkers at Aon. That summer, we talked about how we both were going to run in the 2001 New York City Marathon. In our last conversation, Septemebr 10th, we kidded that we each should lose 5-10 pounds before the race. I ran the NYC Marathon that November, and thought of Heinz for all 26 miles.
Heinz was a kind, fun person, who is missed.

Andrea - we met when you came to New York after this tragedy. Heinz was my best friend. We worked together on the 101st floor, and also went running together. We both participated in a half marathon in Central Park, the summer before 9/11.

Liebe Familie Ackermann!

I´m sorry, that I´m so late creating some words on Heinrich B. Ackermann a former Aon-Munich (Germany)colleague of mine. Heinrich was a good soul, always friendly and someone you could laugh with him. In former times we had a traditional x-mas-happening with our Aon-colleagues here in munich every year. Some of the colleagues mostly created a short play with the typical characteristics of the year in our company. One of it was a on Aon-People related TV-contact-show with someone who played "Acki" wearing a "Munich-City-Marathon T-Shirt".
This T-Shirt is still in my fund in our wardrobe and everytime wen I look on it, I still can´t believe that "Acki" left our planet.

May it please Heinz's family to know that he is fondly remembered, not only on September 11, but throughout the year. Heinz was training for the 2001 NYC Marathon, as was I, and on September 10th we were discussing our training, and kidding each other about the 5-10 pounds we could both stand to lose. I ran the marathon that year, thinking of Heinz all the while.

Heinz was a kind, thoughtful person, and is remembered as such by many of us.

Hello to the Ackermann family:

Just a note to say that Heinz is being thought of often, his life and memory are still ever present. I lit a candle in Malaysia for him recently on a trip there, and I thought of how much he would have enjoyed the places my husband and I visited. I miss him and speak of him to others, as I want to keep his memory in my heart and to keep our friendship alive.

All my love this Christmas- I know you and his past girlfriend miss him terribly but wanted to say that you are not alone. The Christmas lights in NYC and Germany shine for him, and those who lost their lives on that day in September. We are sending our prayers and thinking about you in California and England.

As we see our nation joining together let us remember that angels have wings. May peace come to your souls, and the hearts that have been touched. Some way or another it effected us all.
