Richard Compo Obituary
His wife of over 53 years, Grace D. Compo, predeceased him in 2012.
Family and friends may call from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Monday (September 13) at the Doran Funeral Home, 4 E. Bayard St., Seneca Falls. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday morning (September 14) at St. Patrick's Church, 97 W. Bayard St., Seneca Falls. Burial will follow in Springbrook Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Patrick's Church, 25 Center St., Waterloo, NY 13165.
Richard "Dick" was born in Adams Center, N.Y. on January 7, 1930, and was the son of the late Roy and Grace (Stumpf) Compo.
He was predeceased by his sisters Janice and Jenny; and brother, Tommy.
He is survived by his son and main caregiver, Joseph (Randy); son, Jeffery (Robin); daughter, Kim (Lee) Raymond; daughter, Joanne (James) Barbati; and son, James (Susan) Wilcox; sister, Carol (Frank) Williams who currently resides in Naples, Fla.; he has seven grandchildren who love their Papa very much; six great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
Dick was an Army Veteran, served in the Korean War and frequently met with his Army brothers.
Dick graduated from RIT in Rochester and was the President of the Seneca County Chamber of Commerce for his entire career. He was involved in many organizations and was recognized with numerous awards for his dedication to his community. This included the Lifetime Achievement Award given by the Seneca County Chamber of Commerce which was attended by numerous guests including local politicians. He was well known for starting the Aqua Festival that ran for several years in Seneca Falls, he was President of the Seneca County Fair for 30 years as well as many other events that brought notoriety to Seneca County. He was a J.C., a Rotarian, as well as a life member of the Seneca Falls Elks Lodge #992.
The family would like to acknowledge and extend their heartfelt thanks to Lifetime Care of the Finger Lakes, Canandaigua's VA visiting nurses and PT staff and his personal favorite aid, Arlene Thompson.

I am so sorry to the Compo family during this time of loss, grief and sorrow. Joe, your parents were so kind to me throughout the years and I had great fun when I would visit with them and they made me feel like I was part of the family. It was such an honor to work with Mr. Compo and his supportive family. Heartfelt appreciation especially for Joe along with Randy and Robin, for their loving service to their father and making us feel welcome during our visits.

To all of Dick's family, we are saddened to hear of Dick's passing. He was a gentlemen and always carried a smile with him. He did a great and many things for Seneca Falls and the county. He started the Aqua Festival, which was a great and enjoyable time had by everyone. May your hearts soon be filled with wonderful memories of joyful times together as you celebrate a life well lived.
