Funeral services for David Francis Collins, 89, of Willoughby, will be at 4 PM on Sunday, December 12, 2021 at Davis-Babcock Funeral Home, 4154 Clark Avenue, Willoughby.The family will receive friends from 1-4 PM on Sunday, prior to the service at the funeral home.David passed away December 5, 2021 in Willoughby.Born July 17, 1932 in Kirtland, he has lived in Lake County his entire life.David was an U.S. Army Veteran serving as a paratrooper for the 82nd Airborne from 1951-1954.He enjoyed flying planes, sailing with his dad, carpentry work and riding his Harley Davidson. David was known to have a great sense of humor.He worked on ore boats on Lake Erie, and retired as a land surveyor.Survivors include his sister, Molly Whinnery; nephews, Jason (Angie) Whinnery, Colin (Anna) Whinnery, and Kenny (Jane) Collins; nieces, Diane (Louie) Sicurezza and Kimberly (Dan) Cleary; special friend, Shirley J. Collins. He also leaves behind many great-nephews and nieces.He was preceded in death by his parents, James Kenney and Hazel (Sherman) Collins and his brother, Jim Collins.Committal services will be on Monday, December 13, 2021 at Knollwood Cemetery, 1678 SOM Center Road, Mayfield Heights.
