Roger Reaves McKellar, 65, of Council passed away Thursday, March 3, 2016. He is preceded in death by his father, William Evans McKellar and nephew, Michael Hayes Ward. He is survived by his wife, Katherine Harris McKellar; son, Matthew David McKellar and special friend, Angie Register Meiggs; son, Jason Evans McKellar; daughter, Viola Elizabeth McKellar Fletcher and husband, Robert Fletcher; his mother, Ruth Bass White; brother, William McKellar and wife, Edie; sister, Peggy Ward; three grandchildren, Robert Fletcher, Jr., Ethan Fletcher, and Ella Reaves Fletcher and one step-grandchild, Connor Meiggs. Roger was a devoted husband and father of 45 years. He loved his grandchildren more than life itself. The family will receive friends on Sunday, March 6, 2016 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Bladen-Gaskins Funeral Home. The funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. Monday, March 7, 2016 at Dublin First Baptist Church with the Rev. Cameron McGill officiating. Burial will follow at Clarkton Cemetery.

Roger and I got to see each other at the Clarkton High School Class of 1968 Reunion at the Village Station in Lumberton on April 3, 2015. It was great to catch up with each other. He was a good man, and that is the best compliment a man can receive.
