Mr. George Daniel Swinehart

George Daniel Swinehart of Afton, OK passed away Thursday March 24, 2011 at his home after an illness. He was 72. Mr. Swinehart was born December 28, 1938 in Kansas City, Kansas to Daniel and Irene (Lindell) Swinehart. He retired from the U.S. Navy. He was a member of the DAV in Commerce, OK, Fleet Reserve Assoc. and member of the First Christian Church in Afton, OK. He was preceded in death by his parents, 3 sisters Elizabeth Innes, Patricia Meeker and Alta Smith. He married Betty (Shere) on October 19, 1959 in Long Beach, California and she survives of the home. Other Survivors include 2 Daughters Julie Jacobs and husband Bill of Afton, OK Janet DelliSanti of Grand Lake Town, OK 3 Sons Daniel Swinehart and wife Sherry of Oklahoma City, OK Timothy Swinehart and wife Kim of Broken Arrow, OK Michael Swinehart of McPherson, OK 21 Grandchildren 5 Great Grandchildren Funeral Services will be Sunday March 27, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at the First Christian Church in Afton, OK. Brother Mike Foust will officiate. Pallbearers will be Jason Oakley, Christopher Swinehart, Jacob Oakley, Shane Owens, William Jacobs, Frankie DelliSanti, Daniel Jacobs. Honorary Pallbearers will be Jeremy Oakley serving in Afghanistan. Interment will be in Glen Abbey Memorial Gardens in Miami, OK. Military Rites will be conducted by Navy Honor Guard. Mr. Swinehart will Lie in state at the home at 303 South Locust in Afton, OK. and the family will receive friends and neighbors from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the home in Afton.
