Carl Victor Gustafson

Carl V. Gustafson "Vic", 95, passed away on September 30th at home after a brief illness. He was born in Hartford to Claus and Selma (Swenson) Gustafson, grew up in Wethersfield and moved to West Hartford. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Patricia (Parry) Gustafson, a son, Carl P. Gustafson and his wife Jacquelyn Gustafson of West Hartford and a daughter Gail Gustafson Osland of Avon. He also leaves three grandchildren, Eric Gustafson of West Hartford, Kirsten and Kelly Osland of Avon. He was predeceased by three sisters and a brother. He worked at Jacobs Chuck before entering the Navy in 1943. He served in WWII on a PC 1192 as a Motor Machinist Mate First Class in the Caribbean. He was proud of his naval service. Upon discharge from the Navy he became a tool & die maker and was employed at Elfred Machine. He later worked at Monsanto Company where he retired in 1978. He was a member of the Covenant Congregationl Church, West Hartford where he served on several boards including the Trustee Board. He was also a member of the Wyllis Lodge 99AF & AM, the West Hartford Squires and the American Legion. Vic loved his family and was an avid golfer. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 15 at 11:00 am at the Covenant Congregationl Church, 1 Westminster Drive, West Hartford. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Covenant Congregational Church or the Fisher House Foundation, Inc., 111 Rockville Pike, Suite 420, Rockville, Maryland 20850.
