MAY, JR., WILLIAM EDWARD "BILL" On this day we celebrate the life of William Edward "Bill" May, Jr. who entered into eternity with his savior Jesus Christ on December 30, 2012. Bill was preceded in death by his parents, William Edward May and Ileta May. He is survived by his loving children, Jack Kelley (Dora), Jason Kelley (Jacque), Javier Kelley, Bianca LaCombe (Jay), and Anthony May, whom he cherished so dearly. Coming into his own in the late 1960's, Bill championed the causes of civil rights and social justice, working indefatigably in pursuit of justice for the disenfranchised, those less fortunate, and for those oppressed. This zeal led Bill to matriculate at the University of Texas School of Law where he distinguished himself academically and graduated at the top of his class. Bill served honorably as the First Assistant District Attorney in Corpus Christi, Texas, having successfully prosecuted countless capital cases, and having tried hundreds of felony offenses. He was renowned and greatly respected in the Texas Bar, and nationally recognized for his exemplary advocacy. Bill left public service to pursue a career in criminal defense. He was regarded as the preeminent defense council in Texas, winning more acquittals in Federal Court than any other defense attorney in the annals of the Federal Bar. Bill's lifelong passions were fishing and hunting, yet his love of outdoors was eclipsed only by his love of family. Bill retired to Dallas, where he and Diane once again shared their lives and love. Bill was profoundly sensitive, loving, caring, and generous to everyone. He was famously eloquent and humorous, a mentor to many, and beloved by all who had the privilege to know him. Bill will be remembered and dearly missed for the husband, father, true "gentle-man", and friend that he was. Bill May was a legendary warrior for men on earth, and is now undoubtedly one at God's side. In lieu of flowers, please honor Bill's memory by donating to a cause dear to his heart.
