Alan David Helbing

Alan, David Helbing, age 53, passed away suddenly on 3/18/2013 at 204 Beaver Avenue, Beckley, West Virginia. He was born on 1/25/1960 in Seoul, Korea to his parents, Theodore and Kimberly. He attendend Western Kentucky Univeristy, General Motors Institute, Cleveland State, the University of Louisville and then graduated in 1983 from Tampa College with a degree in Computer Science. His high school life was spent in various places where he made many great friends to which credit him for keeping their communications constant. Many classmates from Ft. Knox High School in Kentucky and Taegu America High School at Camp Walker in Korea. Even after his father retired from the United States Army, Alan continued to enjoy many parts of the country leaving his mark in California, Connecticut, most of Florida, Georgia, New York, North Carolina, and Texas. His greatest gift to all was that he enjoyed helping others, as he had a compassionate, accepting, fun-loving spirit that was infecious to all that were fortunate enough to cross his path. Alan was the oldest of 3. He will be remembered and missed by his loving parents Theodore and Kimberly Helbing, his sister and brother in-law Denise and Chandler Root, his daughter Grace Louise Helbing, his nephews Austin and Brendan Root as well as his dear friends Jack Toler, Carol Toler and William Brown of Beckley, West Virginia. Alan is predeceased in death by his sister Terry Ann Helbing, grandparents Charles R. and Iola M. Helbing, aunt Susan Annette Helbing Dauer and uncle Charles R. Helbing, Jr. Relatives and friends are invited to a visitation at 12:00 on Saturday, March 23 at Blue Ridge Memorial Funeral Home, 5251 Robert C. Byrd Drive, Beckley, WV 25801. His Memorial Service will begin immediately after at 1:00pm.
