Trooper Edward Joseph Seabury of Burlington, died peacefully on Tuesday, May 22 at age 67, at the Lahey Clinic Medical Center in Burlington after a long illness, while in presence of his loving family.

Edward was born, raised and educated in Wakefield. Mr. Seabury is survived by his loving wife of 44 years; Janice L. (Medige) Seabury, his daughter Stefanie L. (Seabury) of North Reading, his son Edward G. Seabury of Mansfield and his sister Judy A. Fabbri of Wakefield.

He joined the Metropolitan Police Force in 1971 and during his career he was a member of the elite Underwater Recovery Unit, and the Mounted Patrol. In 1992, he became a Massachusetts State Trooper and retired in 2010. His service is distinguished by multiple Life-Saving Awards and Meritorious Service Awards.

Ed enjoyed summers with his family in China Lake, Maine. He loved to take the China Queen on "putsy putsies' around the lake. He was also an avid traveler and spoke Spanish fluently.

He was loved by his many cherished brothers in the police force who knew him as a talented, amiable and dutiful public servant, and will also be missed by his brothers from the Wakefield Elks #1276, where he was a member for 31 years. Mostly he will be missed and remembered by his family and close friends as a fun-loving big guy with the biggest heart to match.

A funeral mass will be celebrated at St. Joseph Church 173 Albion St, Wakefield on Friday at 10am. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Interment, Forest Glade Cemetery, Wakefield. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, 20 Speen St, Framingham, MA 01701.
