Audrey Oetting Obituary

Published by Porter Loring Mortuary McCullough on Jan. 30, 2015.
Audrey Grace (LeMar) Oetting passed away on January 30, 2015. She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend to all who had the pleasure to know her. Audrey was born on December 18th and grew up in the Chicago area attending Lyons Township High School and Lake Forest College where she earned a degree in psychology. Audrey was a talented florist, teacher, realtor, gourmet cook and avid fan of the Chicago Bears. She embraced life to the fullest and always had a smile for those she met. Upon moving to San Antonio in 1996 she became very active with Newcomers, gardening, her many bridge and bunco groups, working out several days a week at the YMCA, Hiking Chicks, Classy Lassies, Yee-Haw Sisters, book clubs, and the San Pedro Presbyterian Church. It was not uncommon for groups of friends to be welcomed in her home to experience her hospitality when playing bridge. Though she was a gracious host, she played to win. Audrey found great joy in helping others. She was a member of the Assistance League of San Antonio and worked at the Thrift House and with Operation School Bell for many years, the Alpha Delta Pi San Antonio Alum Association, the Women's Club of San Antonio and she volunteered for the Breast Foundation, the Majestic Theater and the Fiesta San Antonio, where she won many awards for her flower arrangements. She was preceded in death by her parents C.B. and Grace LeMar and her loving husband William F. Oetting. She is survived by her children William Starr Oetting (Mitzi) from St. Paul, Minnesota and Janice Grace Cole (Timothy) from Appleton, Wisconsin and her grandchildren Adam B. Cole (Bethany), Danny O. Cole and Jennifer G. Wilz (Kyle). She is also survived by her sisters Melody Weber (Henry) and Gretchen Glasgow (Jim) and her brothers Barney LeMar (Phyllis) and John David Oetting (Betty). We thank her Texas family for all their love and friendship to Audrey. Those who knew her felt she was a wonderful example on how to live life. She was such a big part of our lives and we will miss her so very much. A memorial service will be held on March 28th at 1:30 p.m. at the San Pedro Presbyterian Church, 14900 San Pedro Ave. San Antonio, Texas 78232. In lieu of flowers a memorial will be set up at the church.
