Gary & Richie were great natural athletes. We 3 kids moved in next door on Green St in 1964. 1st, 2nd, & 4th grades. Super fast runners. Great throwing arms. Throwing stones at turtles & frogs in neighborhood ponds. Mr Schloop worked at a Suzuki dealer & drove a Wonderbread truck. He had the first snowmobile we ever saw. Took us kids for rides. He organized great wiffleball games in their backyard after dinner all summer long. Snowball fights & forts in the heavy snow winters. Our first winter Gary & Richie showed us their “packs”, calf-high boots required to walk in the deep snow. Walking to Knickerbocker school all year round except the first time in rained, Mrs. Schloop had all the kids pile into their stationwagon, wearing yellow raincoats. Catching lightning bugs. Climbing trees. Playing baseball & army. Riding bikes to Puffs soft ice cream. Watching Yankee games. Gary & Richie made the Post Office little league team champs. Great hitters. Collecting baseball cards. Great childhood memories that have lasted a lifetime thanks to the Schloops next door. We moved away in 1968 due our father changing jobs. Signed Don, Bill, & Patty Smith.

We now live in NC...but always remembering the guys and gals at Time Warner....Especially Schlooper....He did an installation at a friends home in Adams Center last year or maybe it was two years ago and he asked about Bob Sayers....And said to say hello and wished him well....He was a great person and Bob really enjoyed working with him....We were so sad to hear this news...He will be missed and peace be with him and all...Always, Bob and Sheri Sayers

I have been gone from Watertown for 40+ years, but Gary is one of the old friends that I always remembered. A great athlete, making the guys around him better. I'll never forget running a pattern in football practice, coming out of the break, and seeing his perfectly thrown left-handed spiral about 10' away, delivered to the ideal spot; I can see it spinning (backwards...)easy to catch. Touchdown.
Good man, he'll be missed, wish I would have kept up.
Condolences to his family.

Katrina, your dad was an amazing man. You always spoke so highly of him. Just like me, you are a daddy's girl and always will be. I can't imagine the turmoil that is going on inside you. Please remember, he isn't gone forever. He is beside you in everything you do. He is that breeze you feel in the summer, he is that thunderstorm on a hot day. He was so proud of all his kids and grand-kids and now he lives in on in all of you! Love you lady!

My Uncle Gary was a great man and I will always remember the fun times when we lived close by and saw each other often. I always admired the way he made time for my cousins with hockey and swim and pretty much anything they needed him for. My heart goes out to Aunt Robin, jason, Katrina and Robbie and all of us who lost an amazing guy so unexpectedly.

My condolences for your loss. Gary was a great person to know. Growing up I mostly remember how much fun it was to be around the Schloop boys when our families got together. Gary had a great sense of humor. It was so good to see him at Christmas time with Robin, Aunt Shirley, Tom and Chris. I truly wish I could be there for the calling hours and funeral, but you are all in my prayers.

Gary was a one of a kind. He taught me so much in the years I worked with him. He was always there to lend a hand or be there to listen and give his advice. I will miss all those conversations we had together about work, family, and life in general. He will be missed and it will never be the same without him. Thank you for your hard work and dedication. You were not just my co worker but I considered you a friend. Rest in peace Schloopy.
