Philip T. Leslie, 71, of Haslet, TX (formerly of Miami, FL and Kent, OH) passed away Saturday, July 30, 2016. He was born September 16, 1944, in Lisbon, OH to Chester and Mary (McMahon) Leslie. Phil's love of family was first and foremost in his life. His wife Kim, was the love of his life (he always said, "she's my number 1, she's more important to me than air"). His boys, Patrick and Sean, were his pride and joy and he truly loved every second of being a father, and in more recent years a grandfather to his precious granddaughters Megan and Maddie. He enjoyed traveling and cruising with Kim, visiting family and friends, and planning "new family adventures". He had a wonderful sense of humor and enjoyed kidding and laughing with family, friends, and coworkers, always making the best of a difficult situation and always left everyone smiling. He was truly an extraordinarily kind and loving man, and touched the lives of so many. We will miss him dearly. Phil graduated from Theodore Roosevelt High School, class of 1962. He attended Kent State University, and served six years in the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve. He went on to pursue a career in aviation in Miami, Florida, as a Scheduling Manager with Eastern Airlines for 23 years, and Scheduling Coordinator with Airbus Training Center for 22 years. Phil retired from Airbus in October 2014, and he and Kim moved to Haslet, Texas, to be closer to their son, daughter-in-law and two granddaughters. Phil is survived by his wife of 35 years, Kim (Byers) Leslie; sons, Patrick (Stephanie) Leslie of Haslet, TX and Sean (Allison) Leslie of Saline, MI; granddaughters, Megan and Madelyn Leslie of Haslet, TX; brother, C.G. (Ruth) Leslie of Thompson, OH; sister, Mary Ann Zalewski of Kent; brother-in-law, Keith (Kristi) Byers of Fairhope, AL; sister-in-law, Kyle Byers (Bill) of St. Peters, MO; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Terrence and Jon Paul Leslie; aunt, Frances McMahon; and brother-in-law, Robert Zalewski. Phil wished to have a private gathering of family and friends to honor and rejoice in his life. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Rett Syndrome Foundation in honor of Phil's niece Katelyn Hale. I was stunned and very saddened to hear of Phil's passing. I always thought I would see him again. He was one of the brightest spots of my time at Eastern...especially the years in management. We had a standing 4 o'clock discussion on the F/A contract and how it should be interpreted....lots of laughs....that was the best thing about Phil....he had a GREAT laugh and it went to his eyes which krinkled and danced. For years after Eastern's demise I would have the "Eastern" dream where I was completely disoriented....didn't have the numbers or codes to check in...didn't know what flight I was on....and in every one of these dreams my response as I came close to awaking was "I gotta' find Phil Leslie".
He was the consummate good guy that would always help and was always a good friend....even when I didn't deserve it.
Rest in Peace, Phil, you touched many lives for the better including mine.

At Eastern Airline in Miami, Phil was one of the first people I had the pleasure of meeting. He was always so friendly and helpful to everyone that he earned the nick name "Mr. Nice Guy'. He will be greatly missed.

My favorite thing about Phil is the way he could make Kim laugh. He loved his family dearly and Kim was the light of his life. He always surprised me with his humor and I loved to hear Kim laugh at his quick wit. He was a kind and hard working man that will be remembered by so many for the wonderful person he was and how he cared about everyone.

My best to all of the family and thank you for sharing Phil with me and all of us in a small way.

Much love to you all.

Dear Kim and family
Your dear sweet husband and father was my favorite crew scheduler back in the 1970's when I flew for Eastern. He was everyone's favorite because he was so friendly and nice to all of us. He always had a great big smile for everyone and I'm so glad I had the pleasure of knowing him. God's peace be with all of you.

I have the honor and privilege to have met, known, work and travelled with Phil. He indeed was the consummate gentleman and truly cared for those he knew and liked. I never recall Phil having anything negative to say about anyone - if he didn't like someone he just smiled. God blessed Phil with a great and loving wife, sons and extended families. We lost an angel this past month - but God has added a new one to his kingdom. May God bless the entire Leslie family.

I met Phil on a train on our way Parris Island on July 27, 1967 and became best friends instantly. We joined Eastern Airlines together and we were pretty inseparable for the next 3 years. Taking his mother to Ireland was one of the highlights of that time. Imagine a kid from Ohio, a Cuban from Miami and his Irish mother together on a trip to Ireland. We had a blast!
So many memories as we stayed in touch all those years. We would talk about our families and,of course, the best part is when he met and fell in love with Kim. His family was his life.
I will miss Phil's sense of humor and his kindness.
May God bless your soul my dear friend.

Wow.....I have no words to describe how I feel, words cannot express my sadness. Phil was a co-worker and friend. We even shared a birthday.
All I can say is that God had a bigger plan for him and this is why he had to go and assist him in Heaven. He will be looking after all of us and mainly the family he loved to the MAX.
To Phil's family:
I pray that in the midst of your sorrow you find comfort in all the joyful memories shared.
Blessings to all of you.

RIP Phil and you will be forever remembered and forever missed!

I can't believe that anyone that had Phil's great since of humor and friend to everyone would not be with us anymore. This world lost a beautiful man. He was such a pleasure to work with. Never saw or heard of Phil saying anything bad about anyone. A truly sad loss to so many. Kim, bless you for giving Phil so much Love all these years. You and the boys meant everything to him. If anyone made it to Heaven, Phil did. God Bless.

I was a flight att. with EAL in Miami and considered Phil a friend in addition to co-worker. Always with a smile and a cute remark, it was ALWAYS a pleasure to be around Phil. I've thought of him so many times over the years and did try to find him. His family will be in my prayers as is Phil. Losing him must lesve them reeling. My heart is heavy for you. I know what s good man he was. God bless you and carry you through this.

It seems like just yesterday when I would check in for a trip and you there with a smile on your face and always had a nice greeting. If you had time, we would talk about growing up in Ohio. What memories I have of a dear, kind man. Now there is another star in the sky.

My heartfelt sympathy goes out to the entire family.

Rest in Peace, Phil.

I was lucky enough to have a great dad. He was kind, loving and wise. He always put others before himself and loved doing things as a family. Both my girls loved their grandpa very much and I hope to give them a life as good as he gave me. He was my role model and my friend. He was and always will be my dad. We love you dad. Love, Patrick, Stephanie, Megan and Madelyn.
