Sandra Lee Shortridge Berrios

Sandra Lee (Lanphear) Shortridge Berrios, 72, of Waterbury and formerly of Ellington, beloved wife of Jose J. Berrios, passed away on Sunday, October 30, 2016 at St. Mary Hospital in Waterbury. Born in Hardwick, VT, the daughter of the late Richard and Doris (Colbeth) Lanphear, she grew up in Pennsylvania and lived in Ellington most of her adult life before moving to Waterbury two years ago. Sandra worked for the State of Connecticut, Department of Corrections for 20 years before retiring as a lieutenant in 2007. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and friend who enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children, Richard Mac Queen and his wife Sherrie of OK, Frank Levick and his wife Angel of Vernon, and James Shortridge of Manchester; 9 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; a brother, Gary Lanphear and his wife Carol of PA; a sister, Bonnie Mercier and her husband Larry of VT and several nieces, nephews and extended family. She was predeceased by her first husband, Julius Shortridge. Her family will receive friends for calling hours on Wednesday, November 2, 2016 from 5 – 8 p.m. at the Ladd Funeral Home, 19 Ellington Avenue, Burial will follow in Ellington Center Cemetery.
