Shirley Thomas Ackerson departed this life on Thursday, June 8, 2017 at the age of 67; Wife of James Ackerson, Jr.; Daughter of the late Clyde Thomas and Lillian Jones Stewart; Mother of Sabrina Jones Delpit and Shaiquandra Shantel Jones; Stepmother of Consuella and Nichole Ackerson; Sister of Catherine Octave, Dorian Browder and the Willie Parker, Marquerite Stewman and Juanita Parker; Grandmother of Symone A. Lazard, Quinton M. Jones, Summer D. Delpit, Dario A. Duplessis and Milan L. Duplessis; Great Grandmother of Leon Jones; God daughter of Lillie Jones and William Jones; She is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Relatives and friends of the family, also employees of Charity Hospital, Harrah's, DH Homes, Fair Grounds and University Hospital are invited to attend a Funeral Service at D.W. Rhodes Chapel, 3933 Washington Ave., on Wednesday, June 14, 2017 at 11:00 am; Visitation begins at 10:00 am; Interment: Southeast Louisiana Veterans Cemetery; Arrangements by D.W. Rhodes Funeral Home.
