October 14, 1955 December 6, 2017 In Loving Memory: ""You will always be loved and forever in our hearts"". When someone you love becomes a memory, the memory becomes a treasure ~ unknown. Beloved brother-in-law of James Schweifler, Patricia Schweifler and Carol S. Mello. Devoted Uncle of: Justin Roman, Jeanna Roman and Teresa Han Mello. Father to his beloved cat, Mercury Mello. Richard was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Lisa Marie Schweifler-Mello; as well as his, father James Mello, mother Jeane Mello and brother James Mello. Richard was born and raised in San Francisco. He recently retired from the City and County of San Francisco, working at the Port of San Francisco for 40 years. He was very proud of his job and enjoyed working with all his fellow laborers. His fondest memories were of his deceased wife, Lisa. He enjoyed their travels to Florida, Hawaii, the Caribbean and Reno. They loved the sun, the pool, the ocean and they loved to travel. He also loved and had very fond memories of his closest nephew, Justin Roman and niece, Jeanna Roman and often spoke of the special times they shared. At Richard's request there will be no funeral or memorial service. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to the American Cancer Society, P. O. Box 22478, Oklahoma City, OK 73123, in memory of Richard Michael Mello.

My heart felt condolences to the family. Richie was both a friend when I had seen him at Fisherman's Wharf and also we bowled together.
