Jean Mullin Obituary

Published by CLOSED-Crosby-N. Gray & Co. Funeral Home and Cremation Service on Dec. 17, 2017.
Beloved wife of Michael Mullin, caring sister of late Bernard J Finnegan, devoted mother of Katie (& Michael) Ruef, Michael (& Christine) Mullin III, Teresa (& Michael) Garrett, Brian (& Trasi) Mullin, Patrick (& Rebecca) Mullin, and Beth (& Robert) Buck. She was the cherished grandmother of 20 grandchildren: Joe, Mikaela, and Bryan Ruef; Aidan Mullin; Casey, Brendan, Fiona, and Sinead Garrett; Briley, Ali, Brian Jr., Catie, Cormac, and Jack Mullin; PJ, Bennett, and Erin Mullin; Shea and Finn O'Connor, and Luke Buck; as well as two great grandchildren: Myles and Camryn Ruef. Raising honorable and resilient children was Jean's priority; her hobby was competitive tennis. In 1987, at the age of 49, she entered the workforce as a programmer in the emerging field of computer science. She earned her MBA and worked as a systems analyst and consultant full-time for 15 years until her retirement. At the age of 70, Jean and Mike moved from Connecticut back to California. Jean was a brilliant family photographer and left a legacy of intricate scrapbooks for the generations to come. As the grand matriarch of her large family, Jean touched countless lives with her compassion and generosity. She served as a Eucharistic Minister at OLA and attended daily mass with her husband for many years. As an active member of her residential board, Jean positively impacted the Burlingame community. She was a dedicated fan of UConn, Stanford Women's Basketball and the Golden State Warriors. Friends and family are invited to a Memorial Mass on Wednesday, December 27 at 10:30 am at Our Lady of Angels Church, 1721 Hillside Drive, Burlingame, CA. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, 135 Main Street Suite 1030, San Francisco, 94105; in memory of Jean Mullin.

Dear Mr. Mullin, Katie, Mike and Kids, and all the extended Mullin family, I am thinking about you all and just cannot express how sad I am for your loss. Your family has been a part of my life since high school. I cherish the memories of being included in two Castle Park trips, the great dinner in Vegas, and the help given recently to my daughter Liz in S.F. Your mom was such an incredible woman, she will truly be missed, but her love of family and life will live on through all of you. Peace and Prayers...

My heart goes out to the entire Mullin family. I've known you since childhood and have many memories of your Mom while visiting that West Hartford home. She was a very strong & accomplished woman who managed to raise six successful children then earn an advanced degree and enter the workforce. She was certainly ahead of her time and a great role model. Thinking of your family at this most difficult time and sending love and condolences. Hugs from Minnesota.
