Nora M. Busse

Nora M. Busse, age 95, died Thursday, February 15, 2018 at JourneyCare, Woodstock. She was born October 31, 1922, in Schaumburg, the daughter of Fred and Mathilda Botterman. She was the 6th daughter and the youngest of ten children; hence the nickname "Babe" that stuck with her all her life. On June 7, 1941, she married Marvin H. Busse of Elk Grove Township. They celebrated their 72nd anniversary just a week before he died at the age of 96 on June 16, 2013. In 1942, they moved to Columbus, OH where Marvin worked for the Curtis Wright Aircraft Company building war planes. In 1946, they moved back to Elk Grove Township. Nora was mostly a stay at home mom but helped out on the Busse peony farm in season. She also worked part time for Busse Flowers in Mt. Prospect, where she honed her design skills that served her very well the rest of her life. In 1989, they moved to McHenry and enjoyed many years of very active retirement. She spent the last 4 years at Fox Point in McHenry enjoying newfound friends. Survivors include children: Patricia (Ernie) Grimm of Marengo, Gary (Jean) Busse of McHenry and Steve (Kathy) Busse of Dillsburg, PA. Grandchildren Lisa Reser, Jeff Grimm, Brian (Hillary) Busse, Dave (Laurie) Busse, Dan Busse, Scott (Jenn) Busse and Josh Busse, 16 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild, and two sisters-in-law. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and all of her siblings. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 20, 2018, from 9am until the time of Funeral Service at 11am at Fellowship of Faith Lutheran Church, 6120 Mason Hill Road, McHenry. Interment will follow at St. John's Lutheran Cemetery, Mount Prospect. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Nora's name may be made to Journey Care, 405 Lake Zurich Rd., Barrington, IL 60010, or Fellowship of Faith Lutheran Church, 6120 Mason Hill Road, McHenry, IL 60050.
