Gary, it's been years! I was shocked to hear from my dad and Sandy of your passing. I was so very happy to hear that you visited them in Florida last year, it meant so much to your Uncle Paul. I pray to reconnect with you on the other side one day.
Your cousin,
Ronald Stickney

Gary, I am deeply sadden by your passing, as I knew you as a great
guy, & Plumber. I had the opportunity to work with you on a couple
of occasions and you were very pleasant, and easy to talk to about
what needed to be done. You will be sorely missed. "Rest in Peace Gary"

Gary was a fine plumber who helped me out several times. He had a good sense of humor and was always a pleasure to see him.

Gary, The Man, The Myth, The Legend. The King. My friend. He will be sorely missed. A man like Gary can never be forgotten. His infectious smile forever burns an image in our minds. As his tremendous aptitude for performing random acts of kindness burns hope in our hearts. He was the perfect personification of resolve, guiding others like a glowing beacon in the darkness to find the light. Or at least he was to me. Gary's memory will never be defined by a location or singular event, but by the imprint of his integrity towards those he cared for. In memoriam, Gary Alan Purington has blessed me with many fond memories. To share a few; his ability to walk in a room and put a smile on the face of everyone who knew him, his freakishly good talent of Cross Word puzzles, always having a story I wanted to hear, being lucky enough to not only eat his food but have him cook just for me, his excitement for my handmade gifts, all our inside jokes, his stubbornness, and of course letting him win at Trivial Pursuit because it was his birthday. I love and miss you dearly my friend. My condolences to his family, you all are in my thoughts and prayers.

Gary,
There are so many things; memories, thoughts, times, and phases of life where we weaved in and out of each others lives but always I loved you and knew you loved me. Whether we were laughing or crying together or miles apart you were on my mind and in my heart. I am sad that you have left this world and that our earthly time has come to end but it comforts me greatly to know that we have all eternity to continue being brother and sister, in flesh and in Christ. That knowledge gives me great joy and peace! Until we see each other again big brother keep smiling!
For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. (John 3:16)

Gary
Little brother, we were close growing up...then like many siblings after leaving home our lives went in different directions for a bit. When our kids were little we reconnected. There were "family gatherings, family Christmas's and parties at the Purington's "just because". Your "humor, wit and sarcasm" always made us laugh, and we never knew " what you would say or do next" These memories we will have forever, some of which though we have tried ,we can not forget!"
I always knew you were there for me, as you were for so many others. I knew if I needed you, you would be there with your wrench and/or your wisdom and that neither would come with a bill.
Over the years as your health began to fail you kept your humor, wit and I might add your stubbornness. I expected no less. I am sure there are many nurses and doctors still shaking their heads. I will never forget the look of horror on people's faces at the Common Man when you lit up your " E cigarette" at lunch with your O2 on, or the times you ended up in the hospital, and didn't tell me till later and told me "they had your number if I died".
Your wit and humor stayed with you till the end,as one morning I delivered a message from "your sister" saying that " she loved you" and you looked at me with that glint in your eye and said "which sister".
When you "get where your going" I hope God has a sense of humor, they have ring dings,Mountain Dew and your missing finger"
love you little brother.❤
