James Myers Obituary

Published by Porter Loring Mortuary North on May 28, 2018.
On May 28, 2018, James (Jim) Rautio Myers, of San Antonio Texas, lost his 17-year battle with cancer. Jim was born on November 6, 1941, in Brooklyn, New York to James Clifford and Esta Rautio Myers. He grew up, spent his childhood, and early adult life in New York and New Jersey. Jim attended New Mexico State University where he earned a Master's Degree of Arts. During his high school and college years, Jim was a distinguished track athlete. It was this athletic ability that helped him obtain a scholarship to New Mexico State University. Following his pursuit of a Master's Degree, Jim moved to Texas in 1962 to begin his carpentry business and practice his art of fine woodworking. Woodworking and carpentry was not only where Jim earned his living, but also his hobby. When not practicing his skill in the woodworking trade, he could be found cheering for the Dallas Cowboys or spending time with his family. Dallas is where he met his spouse Billie and ultimately got married on October 12, 1985. Jim is survived by his wife Billie Myers of San Antonio, daughter Deanna Rankin and her spouse Ron Rankin of San Antonio, Grandsons Jeffrey Kirkpatrick and spouse Krysta of San Antonio, and William Rankin of San Antonio, Great Granddaughter Kendall Kirkpatrick of San Antonio, and Jim's beloved Feline Furr-Baby "Kitty Puss Puss". Jim is preceded in death by his parents James Clifford and Esta Rautio Myers, sister Esmeralda Myers, and uncle Harry and aunt Viola Nelson. A Memorial Service to celebrate the life of James Rautio Myers will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, June 1, 2018 at Porter Loring North located at 2102 N Loop 1604 East San Antonio Texas 78232. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to San Antonio Pets Alive! (SAPA!) to honor the memory of James Rautio Myers. Donations can be sent to P.O. Box 830006, San Antonio, Texas 78283.
