Marilyn Dawson Wilcox

Marilyn Dawson Wilcox, 85, passed away peacefully in the arms of her children on Saturday, June 15, 2019. Marilyn was born and raised in Elyria and loved being a teacher in the Elyria City School District for more than 30 years. She was a member of the Avon Lake United Church of Christ and enjoyed life to its fullest. She traveled the world, kept active with swimming aerobics, played a mean game of bridge, nurtured her gardens in Martha's Vineyard and loved to read. Most of all, she loved being "Nanny" to her friends and family. Her life will be forever cherished in the lives of her children, David Wilcox (Maria) of Cape Coral, Florida, Nancy Vacante (Michael) of Avon Lake and Laurel Mitchell (Timothy) of Avon Lake; she is also survived by her brother, Kent Dawson; sister, Gini Bastone and her 10 very loved grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Ashley Mitchell. Guests are welcome at Busch Funeral Home, 163 Avon-Belden Rd., Avon Lake on Monday, June 24, 2019 from 4 to 8 p.m. Her memorial service will take place at the Avon Lake United Church of Christ on Tuesday, June 25, 2019 at 10 a.m.
