Dear Goldberg Family,
Please accept my condolences on the loss of your beloved Benny. I had the privilege of meeting Mr. Goldberg when I was just a child as he and Claire were friends of our family, and he was my Sunday School teacher at Synagogue EmanuEl for years. I appreciated and admired Mr. Goldberg for his knowledge, his patience and his coolness in dealing with us unruly teens. He always had a story to tell and a message to convey. I had the honor of working with Mr Goldberg again when I was a young adult and he assisted me with the BBYO and JCC programs that I was in charge of. He was a mentor and I could always turn to him for a fair and honest judgment and opinion.
May Mr. Goldberg rest in peace. May his memory be a blessing to you all. Love, Renee Greene and Dr Michael Fish

I have the honor of meeting Mr. Goldberg when my parents owned the tobacco store El Estanco on Broad Street. He was one of the regulars that came in at 10 in the morning and at three in the afternoon to join the group in the back room of the store. Choice of beverage was either coffee or soda and opportunity to light up a cigarette or cigar. The topics of conversation were world news, sports and what happening in Charleston. There were days when it was standing room only.
Mr. Goldberg was a true gentleman with always a kind word and already smile. May God bless you all.

Dear Aunt Claire, Rachel and Joel,
Its been such a long time since I've seen you all, but I have such fond memories from our childhood. Of course, I remember Uncle Benny as full of jokes, but I know he has made a huge contribution to the community through his work. I am sorry I did not take the opportunity to visit him and that my life has taken me to another continent where it was hard to keep in touch. Special thanks to him also for the legal and financial work he did for us hard work for me around Leon's legacy. I feel I didn't thank him properly.
Love to each of you in this challenging time,

Dear Aunt Claire, Rachel, and Joel,
We have such fond memories of our Uncle Bennie. When we were little kids, he was the fun uncle who spent time with us and kept us laughing. When we grew up, we learned about his many professional accomplishments and his generosity to his family and community. We're thinking of you.
With love,
Beth, Elliot, Joan, and Joanne

Bennie was a treasure. He was smart, knowledgeable, and principled, with a high moral compass and an ever present sense of humor. He was one of the earliest and most informed members of JHSSC. He was a pillar of the Charleston community, and a respected and important member of the Charleston Jewish community. He will be missed

Ben Goldberg was special and made everyone he touched feel special. He knew history better than anyone and was so passionate about his Judaism, his country, and the south. His light will continue to shine through the many people young and old that he touched. Condolences to Claire, Rachel, and the rest of his family. Ben's memory is a blessing.❤☮

My dear Mr. Goldberg has gone into the light of God's Love. He was a wonderful storyteller about Judaism and Ellis Island. He became an adored Jew to me. I was able to later become well acquainted with other Jewish people to discover the greatness of those souls and the theological approach they have had that makes Charleston and other places such wonderful places to live. They have suffered many of the injustices that we, as a race of people have suffered, creating a common collective of us all. My heart is sore for his personal presence, but one thing I know I am better because he came along in my life in the City at Washington Park at a time when I was spiritually ready to listen and to hear.
I am so much better for that. I pray that Mrs. Claire understands that I was so fond of him and his yarn spinning that I shall consider those sessions as some of the most noted things in my Spiritual Life. Just know that I had it revealed to me that we do go into another realm and have manifest bodies upon arrival. Since the nature of the Universe and everything that is in it, he is no different than the rest of us Higgs-Boson constructed bodies. You will see him again, because once we get to the next realm, we are "known as we are known." I send my love to your entire family, the Jewish Community and others who knew him, like me.
