Published by Burdan Funeral Home and Crematory on Mar. 13, 2020.
Michael R. Finton "Mickey", age 68, of Cedar Lake, IN passed away suddenly at home on March 13, 2020. He is survived by his wife, Teena, of 36 years; daughters, Shannon and Nicole Finton; sister, JoAnne Finton; and brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Roger and Terry Bowyer. He was preceded in death by his parents, Nellie and Norbert Geisen and Robert Finton. Mickey served in the Marines and retired from Local 150 Midwest Operating Engineers. He was also a 32nd degree Mason and Shriner. In Cedar Lake he was a member of the American Legion Post 261 and Fraternal Order of Eagles Post 2529. His favorite hangout was "The Hill" where he had a designated corner bar stool to visit with friends and where he frequently spoke of his family and their pets, Peanut, Delilah, Baylee, and Nemo. Mickey traveled extensively on his Harley, riding in as many states possible, including from Cedar Lake to Anchorage, Alaska. He was referred to by many as "Santa on the red motorcycle." Mickey will be deeply loved and missed by all. He will be remembered with a Celebration of Life Memorial Bike Run starting at the American Legion in Cedar Lake on Saturday, July 25, 2020 gathering at 10 am and leaving at 11 am to Lake Village Cemetery where his ashes will be laid to rest with a ceremony given by the Fraternal Order of Eagles, proceeding on a run ending with Legion ceremonies and a dinner at the American Legion Post 261, 10350 Washington Street, Cedar Lake, IN 46303 at 4 pm.

As the Readers Digest asked ( the most interesting character you've ever known ) that was Mikey. He entertained Ken and I for fourty some years and it was not nearly enough. Never forgotten, always loved. Our deepest sympathies to the family. He will surely be missed.

Mickey was the most nonjudgemental person I have ever met. He had the biggest heart and was a great listener and conversationalist! He had more stories and jokes than anyone I knew. Always a pleasure to be around and always left me with a smile. He will be dearly missed but never forgottenā¤
