Edward Bishop Obituary

Published by Kane Funeral Home & Cremation Services - Easton on Apr. 16, 2020.
STOUGHTON---Edward West Bishop Jr. "Bish" 75, of Stoughton, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded in love by his family on April 16, 2020. He was the loving husband and best friend to Francine (Fitzpatrick) Bishop for 54 years. He was the devoted son of the late Edward West Bishop, Sr. and Ellen (Hines) Bishop. He was the cherished father to Suzanne Irvine, and her husband Brian of Raynham, Laurie Bishop of Raynham and Edward West Bishop III and his wife Carey of Easton. He was the best Grampie to Ryan, Chad and Chelsea Irvine, Sydney, Miles, and Cameron Abrams, and Edward West IV, and Emerson Lilly Bishop. Beloved brother to Deborah Ruggiero and her husband Brandison as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends. Bish was a SHS graduate "Class of 1962." He attended Wentworth Institute and was a well-known talented mason for many years. Edward was the Vice President of Construction at D'angelo, Inc. for 44 years, where he built over 300 sandwich shops and multiple properties. He and his son founded "Bishops Boxing", the areas first fitness boxing gym. In his younger years he was an avid outdoorsman and NASCAR fan. Bish was on a pit crew team that worked on many race cars. He had some good times boating and traveling with great friends. He loved boxing and attending his kids and grandkids events. You would often find him working on his kids houses and landscaping their yards. Bish was the life of the party, a great story teller, and jokester. He was Santa Claus to his grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. Bish was old school, he didn't like "facebook", " facetime", or "downtime." He loved working and providing for his family who were his proudest accomplishments. Bish loved gardening, his children would often wake to find fresh veggies on their front steps. He made the best chicken wings and ribs ever! Bish enjoyed many trips up North, especially with his wife and vacationing with his family and grandkids at Point Sebago. Bish was the most generous man, who would give you the shirt off his back. He had a heart of gold and he will be missed forever. Bish fought hard in the last round of his life, like a true Champion. Bish and my brother, Kevin, were the same age...Bish was a nice fellow as well as being formidible. He only came out as a senior, but he was a helluva football player, and I remember him clearly holding 2/3 of the offensive line at bay from his center position on defense. Hadn't thought of it till this moment, really, but it was extraordinary. Say "hi" to Kevin, Bish. God be good to him and a kindle to your hope.

I'm sorry to hear about Bish's passing. I'm very sorry for your loss. He was a great guy and I will miss him. We didn't know one another that well. Though I had the opportunity through the years to work with Bish at D'Angelo due to insurance. He shared many stories with me with respect to building construction and the complexities of construction management. He certainly had many experiences. We also shared a love for amateur and collegiate boxing. He once told me that I had an exceptionally long reach. That's a compliment in boxing circles. I replied with, "Eddie, those days are well over and it sure hasn't helped my golf score". we had a good laugh.
I hope that your fond memories of Ed help to sustain you during this difficult time.
Sincerely,
John Tarantino

Fran, Eddie and Family,
I am so sorry for your loss. Bish was the best office neighbor I could ask for.
He always made me laugh and always asked about my kids and he really cared about how they were doing and told me how proud he was of them. It meant so much to me. He was just awesome and I am going to miss him! With Love, Lisa

Bish,
You will never be forgotten not just as a mentor to me, but also a good friend.
You always made people smile and laugh with your wit and jokes. I never felt uncomfortable just walking into your office unannounced and you always had a smile on you.
There were many times in my work life when I struggled to make the right decision, and I would say to myself: " What would Bish do?" We will always share our stories of you together on jobsites, and that will prove that you can still make people smile and laugh together. Until we meet again my good friend...

Francine So very sad for you and your family in this heartbreaking loss of such a caring and industrious guy. To me he was always cousin "Teddy" living life to the fullest.Always doing something to make people around him happy Never forget the wonderful "Bishop" reunion you guys had in Raynham and his "special blender" up north at Micks. It's never long enough to have such a treasure in your life, but I'm praying the great Love and special memories you all shared over the years will give you some comfort and peace. Much Love from Linda and family..
