Heartfelt condolences to the entire Chiapelone family, and a big thank you for sharing John with Troop 156. He was a great scoutmaster and natural leader and gave countless hours towards developing young boys into men. I was one of those fortunate boys and, along with my closest friends, owe John a debt of gratitude that cannot be repaid, but must be paid forward. Scout troops wax and wane over time, largely driven by the involvement and dedication of parents and adult leaders. John inspired scouts and parents alike and throughout his tenure Troop 156 thrived. Three words sum it up - Best scoutmaster ever. Sadly, I will not be able to attend John's memorial service in person. I will be attending the Eagle court of honor for my own son, Auggie, that same day and time. Though my son never met him, John's gifts have flowed to him as they have to so many others, they are connected. I will no doubt be reflecting on John's legacy and thanking him in my own way as I watch.

Always enjoyed seeing John and the BGC truck around town over the years and sharing a quick story (usually music related!). Condolences to the extended family.

Please accept the condolences of my brother, Michael Taylor, and me. John was a fellow Burlingame Rotarian and good friend of our father, Francis Butch Taylor, and attended our dad's 103rd and final birthday celebration in September 2012 on the deck of our family home in the hills west of Redwood City. John was a jolly addition to the small group, and generously answered gardening questions with advice I continue to follow. Our dad was very fond of John, with obvious good reason! Your family clearly was blessed to have shared your lives with this wonderful man.

I wish I could have had more opportunities to spend time with John, but I always enjoyed conversing with him when he came to Seattle to visit Julie, Oskar, Calvin and Luke. He was an excellent conversationalist, displaying knowledge of a wide range of subjects. he was cheerful and good natured. I wish I had had deeper knowledge of his life accomplishments when I knew him. I know I had barely scratched the surface while he was alive. He will be sorely missed!
