Mrs. Elizabeth "Libby" Ann Weaver Gosnell

Elizabeth (Libby) Ann Weaver Gosnell, 93, died early Wednesday morning, May 19, 2021. She was born and raised in Darlington, SC and was the daughter of Horace Wayne Weaver and Annie Mae Inman Weaver. She was predeceased by her half-brother, Hugh S. Sprott, Sr. of Darlington, SC and her brother George E. Weaver of Greenwood, SC and is survived by her brother R. Wayne Weaver (Anne) of Greenville, SC, many nieces and nephews, and longtime friend Graham Phifer of Shelby, NC. Libby was the widow of Dr. Sidney M. Gosnell, who had been Superintendent of Cherokee County Schools at the time of his death in 1982. She was the graduate of Columbia College (Columbia, SC), Teachers College of Columbia University (New York), received her masters from Appalachian State Teachers College (Boone, NC), and attended Auburn University for her post-masters work. Her career was in elementary education as both a 4th/5th grade teacher and librarian in Florence, SC, Mt. Pleasant, SC, Camden, SC and finally at Central Elementary in Gaffney, SC. The family would like to thank those who took such great care of her these past many years including Diane Quinn, Toni Pace, and Teresa Owens. A graveside service will be held Saturday, May 22nd at 11:00 am at Frederick Memorial Gardens in Gaffney, SC. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to First Baptist Church, 200 N.
