Daniel Gosnell

Daniel, lovingly known to so many as Pawpaw Danny, was born on March 17, 1958, and passed away peacefully in his sleep at home on October 24, 2025.

Daniel lived a full and joy-filled life, defined by love for his family, his adventurous spirit, and a heart big enough to embrace anyone who needed it. He found happiness in the simple things, like family get-togethers filled with laughter, cheering for his favorite driver Dale Earnhardt, or heading out on a deep-sea fishing trip. Some of his fondest memories were made on family vacations to the beach and mountains, trips to Daytona, and most recently, an unforgettable getaway to the Bahamas.

To Daniel, family was everything. He is survived by his beloved wife Cathy; children Amy (James), Shane (Angie), and his honorary son Eric (Brittany). Pawpaw Danny was the proud grandfather of Nate "Hotrod" & Dixie, Abigail Rose Gosnell, Toby & Abbey, Daniel, Mackenzie, Isabella Gilreath, Jayden, and Sadie, and the great-grandfather of Stella Grace Gosnell.

He is also survived by his brothers and sisters: Shelia (Bill), Ronnie (Pam), Cathey Stacey, Johnny Gosnell, Bobby (Donna), and Joyce (Kevin), sister-in-law, Mary (John) Bayless, brothers-in-law, Benny Roberts and Eugene Rosser along with many nieces and nephews.

Daniel had a gift for opening his home and heart. Over the years, he took in and helped raise many children, never hesitating to make them feel like his own. That's who Pawpaw Danny was, a steady presence, a protector, and a source of unconditional love.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Rubel Justice and Thelma White Gosnell, sisters Janet Rosser and Diane Roberts, and Baby Girl Brown.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the Kinley family for their love and support during this difficult time, and to Maddison Broome, whose kindness and care have been a true blessing.

A funeral service to celebrate Daniel's life will be held at 3:00 PM on Wednesday, October 29, 2025, at New Life Baptist Church in Bessemer City, with Pastor Dennis Gomez officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service, begining at 2:00 p.m.
