KINGS MOUNTAIN- Darlene Owens Dalton, born on June 11, 1944, in Cherokee County, SC, gracefully departed this world on February 4, 2026, at her cherished home in Kings Mountain, NC. She lived a vibrant life of 81 years, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and inspiration.
Throughout her journey, Darlene embraced every moment with joy and a spirit of adventure. Her passion for scrapbooking allowed her to capture and cherish precious memories, while her love for traveling took her on countless adventures, creating stories that will forever be told. Darlene's home was the heart of good company and laughter, where she delighted in playing Bunco with her neighbors and hosting extravagant Christmas parties that were always filled with warmth and cheer.
Her vast collection of Coca-Cola memorabilia was a testament to her spirited personality, and her devotion to her granddaughters was immeasurable. Darlene’s eyes would light up with pride and affection whenever speaking of Kendal and Makenzie, whom she adored wholeheartedly. Visits to family in Florida were among her cherished activities, strengthening bonds that spanned generations.
Darlene was a dedicated member of Bradley Church in Gastonia, NC, where her faith was a guiding light in her life. Her presence at church gatherings was both comforting and uplifting to those around her.
She is lovingly survived by her devoted husband of 63 years, Leonard Dalton, who stood by her side through every season of life. Together, they built a beautiful family, including daughters Kim Pruitt and husband Preston, and Christal Hollingsworth and husband Blair, who carry forward her legacy of love and unity. Her granddaughters, Kendal and Makenzie Hollingsworth, were her pride and joy, and her influence will forever be felt in their lives.
Darlene is also survived by brother-in-law Herman Dalton and wife Judy, nephews David, Jonathan, and Joseph Dalton, and numerous beloved cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jacie and Ruby Owens, whose memory she always held dear.
To honor and celebrate her remarkable life, a graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, February 6, 2026, at Mountain View Cemetery. A funeral service will follow at 4:00 PM at Bradley Church in Gastonia, officiated by Rev. Debra Short. The family will graciously receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
In Darlene’s passing, we remember a woman whose life was a quilt of love, stitched with kindness, adventure, and unwavering faith. Though she is no longer with us in body, her spirit will continue to inspire all who had the honor of knowing her.
