Michael Hopper Obituary
GROVER - Michael Lee Hopper, a spirited and steadfast soul, departed this world on December 24, 2025, at the age of 60. Born on June 28, 1965, in Kings Mountain, North Carolina, to the late Clyde Hopper and Ruth Champion Hopper. He lived a life full of adventure and joy, leaving an incredible mark on everyone he met.
Michael was a proud graduate of Kings Mountain High School, Class of 1983. He built a career as a skilled machinist, spending twenty years at Eaton Corporation in Grover before continuing his work at Siemens Energy in Charlotte, where he devoted many more years before retiring. His craftsmanship, strong work ethic, and dedication were admired by colleagues and customers alike.
Beyond his professional life, Michael's passions defined him.He was the life of the party, celebrated for a sharp sense of humor that could light up any room. A true outdoorsman, he cherished every chance to be in nature—whether fishing for carp, spending a day shooting on his property, or camping under the open sky. He found solace and excitement in these pursuits. Michael had a deep love for cars, often seen at Shadyside Drag Strip, and he was a devoted fan of NASCAR, with a special admiration for the legendary Dale Earnhardt.
His journey through life was guided by love and laughter, values he shared with those closest to him. Michael leaves behind a devoted wife, Lisa Hopper of Grover; his cherished sons, Stacy Lee Hopper and wife Beth of Kings Mountain, and Adam Smith of Kings Mountain; step-sons, Mitchell Sheppard and wife Angela of Kings Mountain, and Zac Sheppard and wife Sadie of Summerville, South Carolina; a caring brother, Ricky Hopper and wife Ro of Grover; and treasured grandchildren Daylin, Briella, baby Hopper, Aijah, Julian, Bella, Ally, Ava, Arlo and Anika. He is also remembered fondly by numerous nieces and nephews.
While Michael's physical presence will be deeply missed, his spirit and legacy continue to inspire all who knew him. A private service will be held at a later date to honor his memory.
In celebrating Michael's life, we remember a man who loved deeply, laughed heartily, and lived fully. His joy and zest for life remain a guiding light for all fortunate enough to have known him.
