Vincent A. Salerno

Vincent A. Salerno, age 20, of New Castle, passed away unexpectedly at home on Friday, January 30, 2026, leaving behind a family and community heartbroken by a life taken far too soon.

He was born on December 29, 2005, in Sarasota, Florida, to Michael Rocco Salerno and Katrina Long.

Vincent was a 2025 graduate of New Castle High School and was employed at Culver's Restaurant, where he was known as a dependable and respectful young man.

Vincent had a deep appreciation for the outdoors and was an active part of the bushcraft community, enjoying travel and the challenge of learning and mastering outdoor skills. He found joy in archery and treasured time spent cruising and being with his family.

Quiet by nature yet warm-hearted, Vincent was mature beyond his years, comfortable in the company of adults, and deeply devoted to those he loved. He was, in every sense, a beloved son and brother, and his loss is immeasurable.

Those left to cherish Vincent's memory include his parents, Mike Salerno of Hagerstown and Katrina Dyer of Grand Rapids, Michigan; his maternal grandparents, John and Beth Long of Sarasota, Florida; his sister, Kristina R. Salerno of Muncie; and a special niece, Adabella Armstrong of North Port, Florida.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Ashley Salerno Armstrong, and his paternal grandparents, Joan and Vincent Salerno.

A memorial service to honor Vincent's life will be held at the Wilbur Wright Birthplace at the convenience of the family.
