Details Magazine
Annie Flanders worked in fashion in the retail business as a buyer for Gimbels department store and then ran the style pages of The SoHo News. In 1982, she started Details magazine in Manhattan with a few friends using money from her savings account. The men’s magazine covered the hip New York City nightlife along with fashion trends. Details was bought by Advance Publications in 1988 and then by Conde Nast. Conde Nast published the last issue of Details in December, 2015. After Details, Flanders worked as a real estate agent.
Notable Quote
“We are strictly for people who have an artistic bent, or are fun-loving people. We represent a way of life: people who really like to laugh, have a good time, go out and care, at least some of the time, about what they wear.” – New York Times in 1985
