Though she never spoke about it, professor Margaret Payne was related to one of the most famous people in the world.

Payne worked at the University of Kansas, the National Education Association, and the University of Missouri before taking up a research professorship at the University of North Carolina.

Though she never spoke about it with her friends or neighbors, Payne was the great-aunt of one of the most famous and powerful people in the world. According to the News & Observer, she met her great-nephew for the first time during a family trip to Hawaii in the early 1970s, before he was even a teenager.
