Memory: Loretta and John moving to the country, and sharing their home with Clayton Turner & Kurt Steffen to open The Clayton Turner Gallery. I will never forget his mom making pie out on Jensen Avenue, and--once we got moved into the gallery on Clovis, Avenue--she was so kind: She taught me how to use an old-fashioned iron skillet to make fried potatoes the way Clay liked them. What fond memories of helping him with the gallery, and taking care of his garden.

My husband's brother, Olen McCullar was a long-time friend of Clayton's.Olen knew Clayton as a young man, and used to cut his hair after he had his accident. They became close friends over the years. Olen lives in Seminole, Oklahoma now. I will send the notices to him to read. He will be sadded to hear of the death of his friend.

Clayton was a great man, I have a little story I would like to share.
Clayton and my parents were neighbors and good friends when I was just a baby, however my family moved away when I was about 2 1/2 or 3 years old so I never really had the chance to get to know him. I have always loved Clayton's work, my mother and father had a couple of his pieces. I now have a few of my own pieces in my home and always wanted to get more. They are just fantastic!
I had visited and purchased a lithograph from Clayton about 5 years ago. When I arrived he looked at me and said: "don't tell me!" He thought for a minute and said...Annette and Rudy's daughter! I was amazed that he knew who I was after all those years (about 25). I didn't remember him from when I was a baby, but during that hour long visit I felt as if I had known him all these years, what a wonderful man. He touched me deeply and wish I would have visited him again. I know that he is in Heaven with my Mom reminiscing and telling each other stories.
Clayton will be greatly missed.
