Howard Austin Jubrey, Jr., 66, beloved husband for 47 years of Diane M. (Bean) Jubrey, passed away on Friday, March 8, 2019, surrounded by his family in West Hartford. Born in New Haven on June 29, 1952, son of Geneva (Harris) Jubrey of Windsor Locks and the late Howard Austin Jubrey, Sr., he was raised in Windsor Locks and graduated from Windsor Locks High School with the Class of 1970. After high school, Howard took a position with the State of Connecticut, Department of Transportation where he provided land appraisals for eminent domain. He was one of the first licensed African-American appraisers in the State of Connecticut and worked for several banks and a private appraisal company before starting his own business in 1985, Jubrey Real Estate Appraisal which he operated for over 30 years. Howard received many awards and recognitions for his community involvement over the years and was inducted in the Windsor High School Sports Hall of Fame in 2016, he served as the Grand Marshal of the Shad Derby Parade in 2016, and he was inducted into the 100 Men of Color in Hartford with the Class of 2015. In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing, watching his favorite football team the Dallas Cowboys, and spending time with his wife, children, and grandchildren. He was an active member of Trinity Church in Windsor where he taught Sunday School and formed the Trinity Eagles Basketball Club. Besides his wife and mother, he leaves two sons, Brandon S. Jubrey and his wife Licethy and Aaron T. Jubrey and his wife Leslie all of Windsor; seven grandchildren, Ryan Kenney of NY, NY, Jason, Elijah, Isabella, Alexander, Julian, and Noah Jubrey all of Windsor; a sister, Evelyn Fowler of Vernon; three brothers, Clifford Jubrey and his wife Charlene of Windsor Locks, Steven Jubrey and his wife Stephanie of Windsor, and Guy Jubrey of Windsor Locks; and 11 nieces and nephews. Dear Diane, Brandon and Aaron,
I was so sorry to hear of the passing of Howard. He was a great role model for all who had the privilege of knowing him - adults and children. I will always remember the times I spent with him when he coached the Ct Knights. Howard will be missed by all who were fortunate enough to know him. I hope your good memories of Howard will help you to get through this difficult time.

It was an honor to play against his basketball team a few months ago in Granby. Garry and I then reconnected with him after the game. It had been a few years since Vallybrook Comm Church Sports camp that Howard helped at with us. We were honored to pray with him after the game. What a faith and wonderful peace about him. All our love and prayers, Garry and Kim Roman

My condolences to the Jubrey family during this difficult time. Coach Jubrey was a great man, that loved teaching basketball to all the kids. My daughter had the honor of working with him this past summer which he encourage her to join the Trinity Eagles fall/winter team. He was always so caring but stern about her being committed to her self growth. He wanted her to have fun but to gain the life lessons through this sport. He was always so passionate & dedicated to them. He will be greatly missed.

Howie was a great friend that raised a remarkable family. He had the unique ability to make everyone fell important. His influence on children will last for generations.

Not only did he live a life of family values and love of country but he instilled it in everyone he met. A true patriot.

One solace is that his (and Diane's) big beautiful smile was passed on to his beautiful grandchildren.

May he rest in peace.
