Nancy Johnson Hannon
Nancy Johnson Hannon, age 91, a lifelong resident of Windsor Locks, died on March 4, 2026, after a long, well-lived life. For fifty-six years, Nancy was married to Jim Hannon, who died in 2012. She was also predeceased by her parents, Esther (Koehler) and Thomas W. Johnson, Sr.; brother, Tom Johnson, Jr.; son-in-law, Ed Bycenski; and special cousin, Marian Clifford, Marian's husband, Bob, and son, John. Nancy graduated from Windsor Locks High School in 1952 and Bay Path Junior College in 1954, with an Associate Degree. Her work history began at Hamilton Standard, where she met her future husband, Jim. Before her father's retirement, she also worked for him at his business, Thomas W. Johnson Funeral Home. After having children, she worked at Aetna Life and Casualty for twenty three years as a manager in the Financial Division. She then worked at CM of New England for eight years. Nancy was a parishioner at Mary Gate of Heaven Church and volunteered there for a number of years. St. Mary's is the church where she was baptized, married, and now will have her funeral. Religion was a constant part of her life and she attended St. Mary's School, across the street from her house on Grove St. Her parents and the nuns were able to keep a close eye on Nancy, her brother, and her cousin, Marian, who lived next door. In past years, she was often seen at Windsor Locks High School, watching her daughter, and then granddaughter playing for sports' teams. She was an avid New England sports fan, especially of the UConn Men's and Women's Basketball teams. Coach Geno and the players were like friends to her and she knew their histories in detail. March Madness was a favorite part of her year, and she loved watching and talking about the games with other like-minded fans. During her life, she and Jim enjoyed many travels around the country and to Canada, Ireland, and Scotland. They had a second home on Lake Sunapee, NH, where family and friends enjoyed thirty years of memory-making get-togethers. After the house at Sunapee was sold, the family continued to take yearly summer vacations together in other locations. Nancy loved having the whole family in one place and she competitively participated in any card game being played. It was important that her grandchildren learned all the rules and she was a willing teacher. Her surviving children include Deb Hannon and her partner, Peter Pray of ME, Jean Bycenski of Windsor Locks and her partner, Joe Quinn, Jay Hannon and his wife, Ronda, of NH, and Thomas Hannon and his fiancée, Heather Corson, of RI. Nancy leaves six grandchildren: Hanna and Sara Bycenski, Jonathan and Benjamin Hannon, and James and Mary Hannon. In addition, she was blessed with three bonus grandchildren, Cam and Kyle Walker and Isabel Corson. She also leaves her sister-in-law, Mary Jane Johnson; the Clifford and Johnson nieces and nephews; "adopted daughter", Liz Gragnolati; and her special neighbor, Peter Vanderbilt, whose help allowed her to stay in her home on Stevens St. as long as possible. Nancy's family would like to thank her Stonebrook friends and staff, and all Trinity Health Hospice caregivers, including Nichole and Amanda, for being so caring and respectful during her last years. Her family will receive relatives and friends for calling hours from 4 to 6 p.m. on Sunday, March 8, 2026, at the Windsor Locks Funeral Home, 441 Spring Street, Windsor Locks. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Monday, March 9, 2026, at St. Mary Church, 42 Spring St., Windsor Locks. Please meet at the church. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to
