Jesse Vernon Dorman, Jr., 83, of Brownsville Texas, devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, went to be with his Lord on January 3, 2019, at his home.
He is preceded in death by his father Jesse V. Dorman, Sr., and his mother Lola Reilly Johnson. Left to cherish his memory is his spouse of 57 years Gracie M. Dorman, son Steven W. Dorman and his wife Karen, sister Elfrieda Matherly and her husband Paul, four grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, three nieces, and one nephew.
Jesse was born in Conroe Texas on August 22, 1935. His early years were spent growing up at the Midland Gasoline Plant in Conroe. He graduated from Conroe High School and from Sam Houston University in Huntsville Texas with a degree in Journalism. He served his country in the United States Navy for eleven years, including serving in the Vietnam War. He then worked for the Houston Post as a journalist and editor for 25 years and later worked for the Houston Chronicle as an editor until his retirement. Recently he moved to Brownsville Texas to be closer to his family and became a member of the First Baptist Church. He will be loved and missed by all.
