Marilyn Berg Obituary

Marilyn Elizabeth Berg

1941 ~ 2018

Marilyn passed away on Good Friday, March 30, 2018 after a long illness. She was 76 years old. She was born to Helen and Ed Lake of Seattle. Marilyn was the middle child of three girls. She graduated from Ballard High School in 1959.

After high school she married Ogie Berg and they had three children. Ogie died at age 40 in a fishing accident in Alaska and some years later she married Jack Elmberg. Although they were divorced after 17 years of marriage, they remained close friends until the end.

Marilyn was known as a fearless entrepreneur and had an unbelievable work ethic. Those talents were very valuable after Ogie died. She was forced to go from a home maker to a competent business owner in order to care for her family. Marilyn started a food delivery service and later became a well-known jewelry designer.

Marilyn loved to have fun and was a free spirit. She was always positive and loved to have her friends around her. She traveled the world and later in life spent most of her time in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. She had many friends in Seattle, Cabo and all around the world. Marilyn loved to get dressed up and throw parties. She was definitely known for her flashy style.

Marilyn is survived by her sisters Joyce Gauntt Medina (Dick) and Phyllis Lindsey (John), children Melissa Garbrick (Chris), Randy Berg (Lisa) and Charlie Berg, grandchildren Mark and Konrad Garbrick, and Emily Berg as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Ray's Boathouse Northwest Room in Seattle on April 14th at 11:30.

Remembrances can be made to The Nordic Museum in care of Brookside Funeral Home, 101 E 2nd Ave, Ellensburg, WA 98926

Your Light Grace & Beauty live on in my heart of heart. How you believed and had faith and trust in my vision. Way before the seeds bloomed within my heart's garden...you helped me to see again more clearly and with hope in humanity and all her creatures great and small. You loved them all. You live on in my heart dearest Marilyn. LiciAnna

Marilyn, Ogie, Melissa, Randy and Charlie were our next-door neighbors on Esplanade Drive. They were a wonderful young family, outgoing, friendly - just good people. Marilyn being who she was, was my first crush on an older woman. Fond memories. My best to the family. "Rusty" (Russ) Brennen
