Faulkton - Louis Ivan Hadrick, 97, of Faulkton, died Monday, Jan. 9, 2006, at Faulkton Healthcare Center. Funeral service and Masonic rites will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 14, 2006, at United Church of Faulkton with Rev. Bruce Adams officiating. Burial will be in the Faulkton Cemetery, directed by Luce Funeral Home of Faulkton. Visitation will be from 1-5 p.m. Friday, Jan. 13, at the funeral home with a 7 p.m. prayer service at the church. Louis Ivan Hadrick was born March 20, 1908, to Allan Louis and Anna Marie (Mraz) Hadrick at Geddes, S.D. He spent his early childhood years in Sioux City, Iowa, and moved to Faulkton at the age of 8. He attended school in Tamworth Township and also at the Maloney School in Bryant Township. After grade school, he worked at home for several years. On Feb. 6, 1931, he graduated from State Automotive and Electrical School in Aberdeen. He married Bertha Dee Elliott Aug. 12, 1931, in Aberdeen. They lived their entire married life in Bryant Township, Faulk County, S.D., where they farmed and raised Black Angus cattle. He lived on the family farm until the age of 96 at which time he entered the Faulkton Healthcare Center. He joined the Methodist Church in Faulkton by transfer in 1949. He also was a 50-year member of the Masonic Lodge of Faulkton, the York Rite of Huron, and the Yelduz Shrine of Aberdeen. He had served on the Bryant Township Board, the Faulk County Historical Society Board, the Bryant School District Board, the Faulkton Cemetery Board, various church boards, was Past Master of Masonic Lodge #95 and a member of Eastern Star Chapter #69. He is survived by four children: Charles (Ardyce) Hadrick of Faulkton, Rev. Donald (Virjean) Hadrick of Sturgis, Harold (Janice) Hadrick of Faulkton, and Robert (Marilyn) Hadrick of Faulkton; 13 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Bertha. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to United Church of Faulkton Scholarship fund and Faulkton Masonic Lodge #95 Scholarship fund.
