Mark Howard Cohen MD



Mark Howard Cohen MD, 74, passed away on Thursday, December 17, 2020. Mark was born on Monday, February 18, 1946 in Evansville Indian.

He was preceded in death by his father, Philip Starkman Cohen; mother, Diane Cohen; sister, Adrienne Cohen; and niece, Erica Hein. Mark graduated from Bosse High School and Indiana University with a B.A. in Zoology and a Doctor of Medicine degree.

Mark completed a medical internship in Cincinnati, Ohio, then a medical residency and rheumatology fellowship at UNMH. He practiced rheumatology for many years before ending his career as a medical director at the Lovelace Health Plan.

Retirement was the opportunity to pursue his passion for photography and to travel the world, with his beloved wife of 45 years, Susan.

Mark is survived by his wife Susan; his daughter, Rebecca and son-in-law Jeff Wong; son, Brandon Cohen and daughter-in-law Tracy Chan; and four beautiful grandchildren, Maddy Wong, Spencer Wong, Calvin Cohen and Dahlia Cohen.

To paraphrase Robert Louis Stevenson: A man is a success who has lived well, laughed often, and loved much; who has gained the respect of intelligent men and women and the love of children; who leaves the world a better place than he found it; who never lacked appreciation of Earth's beauty or the diversity of its Peoples and cultures; who looked for the best in others and gave the best he had.
