I have fond memories of Richard who was just a few years older than me. I especially recall when he competed in a retired men's track and field event at USAF Academy back in 2005. He, Margie (my wife) and I later enjoyed dinner and a special visit at a restaurant in Colorado Springs which is where the attached photo of Richard and I was taken. Looks like we were both healthy and more robust back then. I know he greatly enjoyed competing in these events and took them rather seriously. I also remember his Christmas letters which I enjoyed reading and came to realize from them that Richard seemed to be a godly Christian man which is indeed a source of comfort and solace. It was a pleasure to know Richard.

Although Richard was older than me he faithfully sent me his Christmas letter. I always looked forward to reading about his travel adventures and his involvement in the seniors track team. He was an inspiration. Thank you Richard for a life well lived in the Lord. Cousin Susie

Richard was the cousin of my wife Dianne. He was such a kind, friendly, interesting and humble person! I always looked forward to his annual Christmas letter. His travel descriptions were so comprehensive, detailed and interesting! I also enjoyed reading about his competitive masters age-group track meets where he excelled in sprints and long jump and placed in the top three in several national meets! The two photos were taken in 2006. One shows Richard with his cousin Dianne and Aunt Esther, and the other is with Esther and me.

I am so sorry to hear of Richard passing away. He was a great cousin, and kept in touch once a year via phone call or even by visiting as he was passing through in whatever state we were living in. He will be missed; his smile, his gentleness, his caring, his sincerity.
Most of us know Richard for his gift of being a runner and his many travels and seeing different places. Another trademark I will always remember him by is his 3 plus handwritten page Christmas letter that we received each year and thoroughly enjoyed.
The picture of Richard with his siblings and cousins was taken in Dubuque, IA approx. 1947. Richard is in the middle, sister Yvonne with bow in hair and brother Ronnie to the far right. The other two are cousins Dianne and Dennis.
God's Blessings, Cousin Dianne
