Lance Emory Basham

Lance Emory Basham, 69, passed away at home on November 21, 2025, in Rio Rancho, New Mexico. He was born on July 13, 1956, in Albuquerque, New Mexico, to Clarence and Janelle Basham.

Lance grew up in Albuquerque and graduated from Manzano High School in 1974. He continued his education at the Albuquerque Technical Vocational Institute before proudly serving his country in the United States Navy. In 1987, he married the love of his life, Julia Basham, in Placitas, New Mexico. Together, they shared 38 wonderful years of marriage.

Lance built a long and successful career spanning 30 years at Motorola Intel GTE. Lance enjoyed a life full of simple pleasures and favorite pastimes. He loved hunting, bowling, and playing softball. 

Lance is preceded in death by his father, Clarence Basham; his mother, Janelle Basham; and his son, Michael Sellon. He is survived by his devoted wife, Julia Basham of Rio Rancho, NM; his son, Keith Basham and his fiancée, Teena Alvarez, of Albuquerque, NM; his stepson, Gabriel Vargas of Albuquerque, NM; and his cherished grandchildren: Michael Facemire, Kyle Vargas, Autumn Michelle, Skylar Vargas, Gabriel Vargas, and Celina Vargas. His presence will be deeply missed, and his memory will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
