Michael Shinn Obituary

Michael Brennan Shinn

Wall - Michael Brennan Shinn, 38 of Wall passed away peacefully on March 6, 2021 surrounded by his family. Michael was born and raised in Lake Como, NJ and attended St. Catharine's Grammar School and Christian Brother's Academy. Growing up, Michael took pride in being a member of the Boy Scouts and an altar server in the St. Catharine's St. Margaret's Parish. At CBA Michael formed lifelong friendships with the brothers and friends that he adored. Michael was so kind to every person he encountered and had a smile that would brighten everyone's day.

A proud member of the Christian Brother community, Michael attended LaSalle University where he received a BA in Communications. He was a member of Alpha Chi Rho National Fraternity, Inter-Fraternity and Sorority Council, Campus Judicial Board, La Salle 56 Television, WEXP Radio and the Collegian Newspaper. Michael notched early professional experience through an internship with Disney Parks Experiences & Products. After graduation, Michael stayed active within the school Department of Communications serving two years as the Multimedia Technician and the Coordinator of Multimedia Services. He served there for almost seven years as adjunct Professor of Computer Science. Michael considered his greatest collegiate success the relationships he built with these men of God whom he warmly referred in their earned title as "Brother". He cherished his fraternity brothers, friends, students, and colleagues.

Michael then entered the corporate world with IMS Technology Services where he spent the next decade learning, excelling, and growing through the ranks to VP of Customer Relations. He valued his time there and connections he met within the industry.

Michael loved music, singing, attending concerts, traveling (especially Poconos retreats with friends), golfing, cooking, technology, and was the ultimate Star Trek enthusiast. He truly loved spending time with his friends, their growing families and took the ultimate pride in being named Godfather to three precious children that he adored.

He is predeceased by his Father, Kenneth J Shinn Jr, grandfathers Kenneth J Shinn Sr, Bernard V McAloon, grandmothers Elinor Buschell and Francis McAloon. He is survived by his mother Tara Brennan Shinn, sister Amanda Shinn, brother Thomas 'TJ' Shinn and significant other Jessica Sherman, aunts and uncles Tyrone Brennan, Brian and Mary Pat Brennan, Timothy Shinn, Maryellen Shinn, Melanie Shinn and husband Robert Wood, cousins Meagan Pond, Maureen Fugate and Kevin Brennan, Zachary & Talia DeFranco and Sophia, Peter & Anthony Shinn.

To know Michael was truly to love Michael. The purest of hearts and most thoughtful son, brother, grandson, nephew & friend. He is and will continue to be sorely missed by all that loved him. Michael surely lived with all the love in his heart just as his favorite band sang, "And in the end, the love you take is equal to the love you make."-Sir Paul McCartney.

As a fellow CBA and La Salle University student I rest assured that he is in Jesus’ embrace now. We were never close, but he was always a nice man who offered a smile and wave as we saw each-other around campus. So sorry to his family and friends, and know that he has touched many lives. God Bless

I am so sorry to hear of the passing of Mike, He was such a wonderful young man. I first encountered him as a freshman at CBA where I was a guidance counselor. His gregarious personality , keen sense of humor and his love of life was contagious. He would often come back to CBA after he graduated and we would pick up exactly where we left off. While visiting LaSalle University he would take the time to have a cup of coffee or grab a bite to eat and we would catch up on his latest project. Unfortunately he has been taken from us to soon. He will be remembered by many as a caring, compassionate person who loved his family his friends. Mike was a man for the people around him and a man of integrity and a man of deep faith.
