While looking for a way to get in contact with Rick (Otte) again, I came upon his obituary notice. He was a true friend and was characterized by true kindness. True story - The guys from the Christian group we were a part of in the early 70s used to play football on occasion. Sports were a very painful area for me due to some very traumatic grade school / high school experiences. Knowing this, Otte worked with me on catching the football, teaching me how to do this effectively. When the day of the game came, Otte was the quarterback, and I ran straight ahead with no one covering me (everyone knew I was worthless as an athlete), and the ball came over my head and right into my hands, just as Otte and I had practiced. I then . . . ran it for a touchdown. Everyone was dumbfounded, except for Otte. It was the kindest thing anyone had ever done for me. A true friend.

Dear Osby family and all of Richard's friends, my deepest sympathy to you. I knew Richard as "Otti" and met him in the late '80s through Bob and Jeanine Dull. I thank God for him as a friend and dear brother in Christ. Otti and I had many good times together, notably a cross-country trip between Madison and Tucson. Otti was a talented artist and deep thinker, a man who loved the Lord Jesus. I am grateful he's at peace with Jesus now and I pray that his story will encourage others to know his Saviour.
