I have so many wonderful memories with Gran. She had a big part in raising me and helping me become the woman I am today.
I remember waking through her backyard, she knew so much about gardening and she loved her plants so much. My siblings and I would pick black berries, smell the honeysuckles and spend hours adventuring in her yard.
One of her favorite past times was to crochet. She made so many beautiful blankets and when she taught me how to do it myself I was so proud of the little pot holder I made. I have now made both my daughters crochet blankets and I can pass on what Gran taught me to them.
She unconditionally loved and cared for me my whole life but especially during a time when I needed it the most. I remember she would drive about 20 min to my first job when I was 16 to give me a ride home after work. It was literally an 5 min walk home, but she wanted me to be safe so she insisted that she drive me home if I got off work late.
She will forever have a special place in my heart and I am so thankful for all the time I had with her over the years. I love you Gran, my family and I will miss you very much.

Gran, I love you. Growing up I knew that you loved me and that you loved your family, and that meant the world. I love the way you talked, the way you laughed, and the way you always said “bye bye now” when you hung up the phone. I love the way you squeezed me when you hugged me and gave me a big kiss on my cheek every time you saw me. I love the way your clothes and jewellery always matched. I love your sense of humour and the way you told stories. I love your white, curly hair and when you smiled I could see it in your eyes. I love that you took and kept so many photographs—photo album upon photo album. And I love every memory I have of you. You mean a lot to me and you made my childhood special. Gran, I love you.

I grew up at Gran's house. I remember when I was little and she would always make me mac n cheese. I used to think that Graham crackers were called Gran crackers because they were always at her house. I remember spending countless hours in her giant backyard where she always said she wanted to build us a tree house. I remember helping her gather firewood, sort through an endless amounts of pictures, and workimg on puzzles together. I was so sad when Gran moved to so cal because it meant I couldn't go to her house every week. Gran loved her family more than anything. We were her greatest joy. I really miss her so much and I will cherish every memory with her. I look forward to the day when I will see her again in heaven.

Gran was a wonderful lady. I have very fond memories of Sunday dinners and holiday meals at her home. She had a wonderful sense of Southern hospitality, and loved nothing better than having her family around her and making them yummy food. She was a wonderful grandma and so lovingly adored each of her grand-children and they each have fond memories of staying at her home. As a parent, I so much appreciate this. I do and will miss her.

My mom was a wonderful mother to me growing up and beyond. She raised me with the right mix of love, discipline and trust, never overbearing or intrusive but always ready with wise advice when asked. She loved all her grandchildren, including my six children, and was always eager to spend time with them and with all of us. We enjoyed being with her and missed seeing her as frequently after she moved to Southern California. We miss her more now. Comforting to me is that just a few years before her passing, she expressed her personal faith in Jesus Christ as her Lord, which gives me confidence that she is at peace and joy with Him now and we will see her again in eternity.

I love all the memories with Gran. Running around in the backyard while she tried to garden, helping bake in the kitchen whenever there was a family event. She will be remembered for her enduring love and endless hospitality.

She was like a mom to me. Her daughter has been my friend for 60 years and I spent many happy days and nights at her house. She took me to church like to a member of the family and I had my first encounter with God there. Dinners were always fun and I loved her southern hospitality and cooking. She was an amazing lady and I know I will see her again in heaven. Love Deborah

We will all certainly miss Aunt Bessie. I will always remember how she and my Dad, Bessie’s brother, Burley, always kept in touch. They talked by phone on a regular basis and visited whenever possible. Thank you Aunt Bessie for always keeping in touch with the family with your calls, letters and pictures. My thoughts and prayers are with her family as they go through these difficult days. I pray their wonderful memories with Aunt Bessie will be a comfort to each of them. ❤

I will always remember Bessie's laugh and the stories she use to tell me about her working at the railroad. Bessie loved her family and always wore a smile when she talked about them. Bessie was a wonderful, funny and warm soul. And to her family, my condolences to you all.

Miss Bessie loved the spring her backyard would be hip high with florescent grass and flowers bursting with bright reds, searing yellows, and whisps of white. Every bulb, tree, and vine teaming with life. She couldn't of picked a better time of year to move to the great beyond. Thank you for being there when I really needed someone like you Miss Bessie. Aloha my dear friend.

Bessie was always friendly and kind to me. Whenever I would visit she would smile and ask me if I was OK. We would laugh together and offer each other support. She was proud of her family. Bessie asked for me by name one evening and I saw her the next day. I was blessed to be with her in her final hours and minutes as my wife sang Precious Memories. She will be missed by all who knew her.

My Mom never gave up on life. Her tired old 98 year old body just reached the end of the line. Her soul broke free as I sang to her, and she crossed over into heaven. I asked her to do a cartwheel for me. My sweet Mama was brave to the end. Old age ain't for sissies.
RIP Mama.....I'll see you there.
Always....Juanice Charmaine
