Lois Linn Obituary

Funeral services for Lois O. Linn, 88, were conducted by Pastor Rod Block on Tuesday, Oct. 20, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. at Kessler Funeral Home in Audubon. Interment was in Arlington Heights Cemetery in Audubon. Honorary casket bearers were Richard Haskins, Rod Dennis, Seth Linn, and Marv Munyon. Casket bearers were Dale Linn, Brian Boken, Blaine Boken, Lonnie Munyon, Wayne Hick, James Dennis, and Ron Martin. Kessler Funeral Home in Audubon was in charge of the arrangements.
Lois Ollivene Linn, the daughter of Lester Warren and Neola Wealthy Reynolds Potter, was born Dec. 31, 1920, at her parents' home in rural Audubon County, Iowa, and died Oct.16, 2009, at the St. Anthony Nursing Home in Carroll, Iowa at the age of 88 years, 9 months and 15 days.
Lois was baptized May 15, 1977, at the Christian Church in Audubon, Iowa. She attended rural schools in Audubon County, then worked for other families.
On Nov. 23, 1938, she was united in marriage to Lyle Willis Linn at the Christian Church Parsonage in Audubon. Four children were born to this union. They lived on several different farms, then in 1949, they moved next to the school in Viola. Lois and Lyle boarded school teachers in their home for many years. Also during this time Lois was employed as a cook at the Viola School. They lived in Viola until the Viola School closed and they moved into Audubon in 1976. Lois worked as a part-time cook for the Audubon Schools for several years, then returned to being a homemaker. Lois and Lyle enjoyed traveling. Lois loved to play cards, doing arts and crafts, crossword puzzles, and word search. Lyle died Jan. 20, 2000. Lois enjoyed her home and traveled to Florida to spend the winters with her sons. Lois lived with her daughter Charlotte for a short time before moving to St. Anthony Nursing Home in May of 2007.
Lois was a member of the Christian Church in Audubon, then when the church closed became a member of the Church of Christ in Audubon.
Preceding her in death, in addition to her husband, were her son Donald Lyle Linn; her sons-in-law: Gordon Boken and Arden Mosman; her parents; her brothers and sisters: Harold and Gladys Potter; Irene and Earl Hick; Orville Potter; Edna Whitmore; Gilbert Potter and an infant sister, Inez Potter.
Survivors include her children: Charlotte Mosman of Carroll; Carol and Marv Munyon of Rockton, Ill.; Dale and Sheryl Linn of Port Charlotte, Fla.; her daughter-in-law: Pat Linn of Port Charlotte, Fla.; her special nephews: Richard and Joanne Haskins of Woodbine; Wayne and Vera Hick of Madrid; her grandchildren: Brian and Amy Boken; Blaine Boken and Jen, all of Lewis, IA; Julie Boken of Carroll, IA; Christy and Rod Dennis of Clear Lake, IA; Sharon Vaughan and Ron Martin of Janesville, Wisc.; Lonnie and Gina Munyon of Rockton, Ill.; Faith Ambrose of Arizona; Seth Linn of Port Charlotte, Fla.; her great-grandchildren: Ryan Dennis, Emily Dennis and James Dennis; Ashley and Nate Mohr; Paige Boken; Jesse Boken; Dylan Boken and Kylie Boken; Heather Bonczyk; Whitney Adams; Kaylie Munyon; Rebecca Munyon; her great-great-grandchildren: Tyler Ambrose; Taylor Mohr; Taylor Bonczyk, Brandon Meinke and Anthony Mavroganis; her sisters-in-law: Hazel Potter of Mitchellville; Bernice Potter of Manning; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
