Dennis Numkena Obituary
World renowned Hopi architect and artist. Dennis Numkena's life was ended at 68, on Sunday evening, April 11, 2010. He was born September 14, 1941 to the late Hattie and Lewis Numkena Sr. of Moenkopi Village, Hopi Indian Reservation. Dennis served in the US Army and was honorably discharged in 1964. He is preceded by his Brothers Herbert Sr. & Louran. His survivors include: Daughter Jessica Numkena, Son Juan Carlos Peinado and Reba White Shirt (Numkena), Brother Lewis Numkena Jr., 7 nieces and 4 nephews and several grand nieces/nephews. A Hopi Traditional burial took place in Moenkopi Village on April 14, 2010. In lieu of flowers send donations to Numkena Family, PO Box 45535, Phx, AZ 85064 for the memorial being held at 1:00pm at The Heard Museum in Phx on June 27, 2010.

Dennis will be missed. He was unique in many ways. A super talent, likable, fun loving, and a good guy. He was my friend and professional colleague for many years. I knew him as one of the brightest people around with a great sense of humor.
I will miss him.
