Fall has come to New England and my family will go to pick the apples soon. A few years ago, Jean can with us to the apple orchard in Massachusetts. I am Christina’s husband; Christina is Jean’s niece.

My side of the family has been going to the same orchard in Massachusetts for over 10 years; it’s a family tradition that we all look forward too. We pick apples and have a picnic with cheese and wine. Jean fit right in that day. It was a beautiful New England fall day when Jean came with us. She added so much to the day. I could tell she enjoyed picking the apples and also enjoying the day with my family. My family enjoyed her company too. My sisters always ask about Jean. She seemed to touch so many people. When someone is so much alive and living life in the moment, you cannot help but be filled with joy in their presence. I feel very lucky and blessed to have known Jean.

So in a few weeks, we will be among the apples again and I know we will be talking about Jean.

I am grateful for the opportunity to have known Jean. She was one of the most alive persons I've ever met. Her love of life and her capacity to embody that love in her art and social involvement were inspirational. Jean, I salute you for a life well lived. Goodbye.

Wow, what a life that Jean had! She was so unique, so wonderful and so special to our Tuttle family. I have fond memories of Jean entertaining our family in Arizona as well as summers in San Diego at Ocean Beach. I grew up with her paintings in my childhood home that still hang with vibrant colors in my mother's home. I was the recipient of one of her paintings for my wedding gift and I treasure it today. Her wit and her love of books and art have spilled into our own family. We will miss her adventuresome sprit and love of life but will live better for having the luxury of knowing her. Nothing could stop Jean or her family. Thanks for the love and the incredible memories, Jean and Collet company! Love, Stephen Tuttle

What a full life! I too remember fondly times at Jean's home in Phoenix, her art and her donations of tea parties (and the beautiful certificates that went with them) for the VRTFCA silent auctions. Our thoughts are with Jean's family.

I wish to express my heartfelt sympathies to your family. I knew Jean when she lived in Phoenix and through her work with the Valley Religious Task Force on Central America. We traveled to Central American together in 1988 and endured Hurricane Joan together in Nicaragua. I had great admiration for Jean, she was an inspiration to all who knew her. Her artistic talents were so many and she contributed so much to many peace and justice works with her artwork. I especially loved having tea at Jean's, and she greatly loved my desserts. I will miss her generosity and humor. My best to you all, especially Miranda, Ben and Serena who I have met. I am greatly saddened by your loss.
