Gary Davis Obituary

Davis, Gary Wayne
61 of Sun City Arizona passed away on 6-15-14 at 11:36 am in Swedish Hospital in Denver, CO. Gary had just arrived at his hotel in Denver, when he had a breathing episode from which he could not recover. Gary was born on June 22, 1952 in Brush, CO to Barton Elwood and Helen Theone (Griggs) Davis. On December 31, 1997, he married the love of his life Diane (Ames, Warran) Davis with whom he was blessed to have 16 very special years together. Gary enjoyed his life with brother Larry (Shirley) Davis, sister-in laws Nancy (John) Tillema, and Susan (Bill) Ostler. Gary loved his son Barton Andrew Davis, stepson Michael Duane Warran, and daughter he adopted late in life, Lindy (Kenn) Cook. Gary loved spending time with his special nieces and nephews, Daniel Davis, Jamie (Derrick) Kidd (Dylan, Tatum, and Trent), Amber (Aaron) Arnold (Evallie), Marissa Tillema (Sophia), and Brian Ostler. "Unkie" to Anna, Ethan, Mary, and Emily Gilson. Gary and Diane were Grandparents to: Austin, Bradley, and David Warran, and AZ Grandparents to McKell, Kenzie, Nicholas, Shelby Tiffany, and Isabella Cook. Gary was a long-term care administrator for over 30 years and sold real estate for a hobby. His care for seniors and his staff he took very seriously, and won many awards through the years but never bragged about them. Gary was was always doing something for someone else on his off time. To know Gary Davis, was to love Gary Davis! He was a "Dad", Grandpa, "Unkie", friend, mentor, teacher, financial planner, house finder, and just a kind loving man who always put others first, including those he never knew. A Celebration of life will be held for Gary at the American Lutheran Church on his 62nd birthday on June 22, 2014 at 2pm at 17200 North Del Webb Blvd, Sun City AZ, 85373. For those who would like to send a memorial contribution it can be done to Gary's favorite places: Riley Children's Hospital, Indianapolis, where his Grandson was a patient, or to the Mission "i6eight" of which he was a previous board member.

I was sorry to learn of Gary's passing. He sold me a car a couple of years ago, but made an impression of an honest
and good man. He will not be easily replaced, sorry for
the family he leaves behind.

Diane & Family,
I had the pleausure of meeting Garty about 25 years ago. I was his banker, but was more of a friend. He helped me get through many hard times when my mother became ill. He was the kind of person you could always count on, and always had a smile on his face. Diane, I remember when you came into his life and how happy he was. Diane, I am here for you, just like were there for my family when my mother passed.

Many blessings,

Gary was a great influence on me and many others. He taught me to always do the right thing. He cared more for the residents than any other Administrator I have ever met. He will be missed.

Some people make the world a better place. Gary was one of those. The lyric "Did you ever know you were my hero? and everything I would like to be? I could fly higher than an eagle, 'cause you were the wind beneath my wings" sums up how I felt about this special, special man.

Gary,
You were love by so many and the most by me! I feel like my heart has been removed from my chest. You were a man of character and your love of the Lord was obvious. You never bragged about being a strong Christian but rather showed your Christ -like ways. Honey I am not sure how I will go on but I will do so with the love that you shared with me for many years. I will await your messages from Heaven!! <3 u mostest <3!

Gary was so kind and wonderful to have in our Bible study. He will truly be missed by so many people but I know he is with our Lord right now.

Gary was a mentor and a friend. He taught me how senior care should be performed and was the single biggest influence in my professional life.

His sense of humor and tenacity despite the health issues he had overcome were incredible.

Just during the time I worked with him, he mentored numerous people who went on to be administrators themselves, and therefore his influence in senior care is truly immeasurable, and the industry is better for it.

"Every day is a good day, some are just better than others" was something we heard frequently from Gary. Hearing the news today challenged that statement.

Rest in Peace my friend, and thank you for everything. You will never be forgotten.
